Scotland vs Italy, 09/02/13

Yes whatever. I'd rather be smart, intelligent and articulate rather than a moronic thick person like yourself. I'm like the Obama to you the thick Sarah Palin/George Galloway/Ahmadinejad.

LOLOLLLOLOOLOLLOOLOLLOOL:cool::p:eek:

Gooooooooo baaaaaaaackkkktooooooooo yaaa friends on The Only Way is Essex and Honey Boo Boo.

Obama isn't really that intelligent though perhaps he is to the three blockheads you named, as Thomas Sowell said of Obama "he has an amazing talent for saying absurd things and making them sound not only plausible but inspiring!!!!"

Anyways on to the game I picked Italy narrowly on Superbru this week, I think they are overdue for a win on the road. But then again they ,may come out flat and underestimate Scotland and tank as they did in 2011.

TRF_nickdnz : lol no nick, I'm not being Sadam Hussein from South Park !

And I've got nothing to back up, that's all I have to say ! I'm not going to go back and watch the matches again and highlight specific plays and names etc...and work my ass off coz someone's asking me for proof on some forum. You know what I mean ?
Scotland just lost the match last week because their forwards couldn't follow what England's were doing; and the general tendency out of this past year of Scottish rugby seems to be their occasional/opportunistic individual prowess. That's all they had against NZ, it's all they had against England; they can't build a true play for a try, there's always something going wrong even though they do show some nice speed in execution; but then they have those wingers notably who will throw in some momentum out of the blue. And it proves to be short-lived momentum too, every time.

Remember it was Visser and Scotland that scored first in the NZ match. Visser scored another try, can't remember if that was the other interception, but smt similar. Their defense is meh. Fine in parts, and then a big-ass fail. They couldn't even score a try on Tonga for e.g., also.

There: that's all the backing up I'm willing to do. I'm not going back to watch the match and give specifically at what minute player X does this or that, but yes I do watch rugby lol and those comments I make are based on things I SEE. Things I see that draw a general tendency of course, not like if I see just one bad scrum, I just go and say Scotland's forwards suck.

My god...wasn't willing to spend that much time on that idea !!...

My main point again, the essence of my position on the match:
Italy= solid, forwards, defense, momentum from win vs France + perhaps some more Orquera, good quick ball, backs good position spacing field.
Scotland=will succumb to scrum, forwards overwhelmed by Italy, some great potential in certain individuals (wingers notably) but not enough accuracy and structure for attack, defense questionable.

therrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre....
goddamn, think I'll have a beer !

I cant see Italy pulling this one out, but I did not think they would beat France right up to the end of the match. One thing is for sure, is I am looking forward to watching this. As someone had posted on another thread, all games this weekend have some interesting story lines. This one included.

^ it's true this 6N is writing itself really well so far !...matchups were great, and the matches themselves were entertaining on that first weekend, as we've all read and said 1000x by now...so that's covered.
But this coming weekend has some serious stakes for all 6 sides !...the storyline looks really nice so far in this year's 6N tales...

My money is on Scotland. Lets not forget that 2 years ago the Italians beat the French in a similar way, and the came to Murrayfield and we're beaten well. I think they will turn it on - they always play better when they aren't favourites.

Well...tough quest for Italy. Apparently Azzurri have better forward and scrum, and the good momentum too. However, there will be a hot atmosphere at Murrayfield, like we saw in Stadio Olimpico last Sunday, and Scotland certainly want a victory before his crowd.

Now that's just crazy talk :OP.

I'm really expecting a good game here, and I think both teams may surprise the neutrals. My biggest concern from a Scottish perspective is 9 & 10.

I personally think Laidlaw is the the better 10, so it'd be Jackson on the bench, Laidlaw at 10 and Pyrgos at 9 for me.

I still think this should be a Scottish win, but boy am I expecting a tough contest!

oh, sorry about that !...kind of just slipped out of me.....very strange.

Otherwise: fair enough ! I'm surprised at how many ppl have Scotland on this one. And especially seeing how things have been going for Scotland, I'd have imagined sluggish demotivated Scottish fans who'd go ahead and predict and Italian victory.

I think if Scotland play positive rugby they'll win, but this dire 10 man rugby game plan they persist with, aint going to work. Kick the ball down the oppositions throat and hope they drop it...

thaaaaat's the spirit !...

The Italian squad, virtually unchanged except for Canale coming in to the side.

15 Andrea Masi, 14 Giovambattista Venditti, 13 Tommaso Benvenuti, 12 Gonzalo Canale, 11 Luke McLean, 10 Luciano Orquera, 9 Tobias Botes, 8 Sergio Parisse (c), 7 Simone Favaro, 6 Alessandro Zanni, 5 Francesco Minto, 4 Quintin Geldenhuys, 3 Martin Castrogiovanni, 2 Leonardo Ghiraldini, 1 Andrea Lo Cicero.
Replacements: 16 Davide Giazzon, 17 Alberto De Marchi, 18 Lorenzo Cittadini, 19 Antonio Pavanello, 20 Paul Derbyshire, 21 Edoardo Gori, 22 Kristopher Burton, 23 Gonzalo Garcia.

maaaaaaan, actually can't wait for this one ! Which is absolutely, but really really absolutely HILARIOUS because last year's confrontation was the worst rugby match I've ever seen in my life - no joke - the worst rugby match I've ever seen in my life...just a year ago !! :D

I do think Italy had momentum (France had lost the last one there...) and France had exactly the opposite, were the recipient/anti-momentum side...but still, intrinsically they played well, and they're a radically different team from the past 2-3 years.

I'd say it's very very disrespectful to imagine Italy was just a one-hit wonder for the tournament, they've absolutely played 4 good matches as of the latest (even against NZ, they were there up until 60min...). BUT, all at home...
and that's what everybody will be looking at...how does this side react away, and back up their home form.

Yeah last year's match was pretty dour, Italy failed to execute in a game where they really should have kicked the snot out of a disinterested Scottish side. I think this edition should be much more exciting, Italy actually have a chance to finish out of the bottom 2 for only the 2nd time and Scotland will be desperate for a win otherwise the Spoon looks very possible and a whitewash not out of the realm either.
