[RWC2023] South Africa vs Scotland (10/09/2023)

A red card and the first penalty SA got could definitely have changed the shape of this game.

Total and absolute mismatch 15 on 15 though. Don't feel like SA will think they players lights out either, they'll probably need to be better in two weeks.

Scotland can feel really hard done by with no red card being shown in the 1st half.

South Africa definitely the better team in the second half.

Lol at Libbok as player of the match.
His cross kick for the try was sublime and was the only true outstanding individual play of the match followed by Russell's 50:22

Really? Don't see where the tries are coming for SA against better defences and packs.

Scotland soft as puppy shite today.
Agreed on Scotland today but still not sure either can compete with the pack physically for 80 mins remains to be seen, if it does happen I will be presently surprised, if anyone is capable it is Ire/Fra as for trys. they have rapid wings that if required could probably score reasonably opportunistically, add the go forward their pack gets off mauls etc I don't think they would necessary struggle if the requirement was there.

I had some hope at halftime given Scotland's recent record of coming out in the second half. Alas, today it didn't happen, SA took the second half

Both teams at home, pretty sure SA went down to 14 in both and actually came away with a narrow defeat with a lot of momentum in the final stages, I'd also say SA are notably better now than then, I hope I am wrong I just think there pack is possibly too much for anyone currently.
I mean yeah they had a yellow card we did nothing with. Also started Baloucoune, McCloskey and Murray who are significant downgrades imo. I'd argue France is as good as home advantage for us crowd wise anyway. We can if and but around it, but I don't see why we shouldn't be confident against SA.

I listened to most of the game on the radio as driving back home from a weekend away so not as easy to follow how the game unfolded.

Disappointed as I fancied Scotland for this, but sounded like bearly threw any shots they were squeezed and made errors when they did have a platform and set peice was generally in tatters?

Centres for most of that game was Ringer at 12 and Jimmy at 13 after Big Stu went off.

You know your setup better than I, it would be a strange universe where ranked no1 didn't have confidence against a ranked lower team, I might have more confidence if Leinster having been dominant all season hadn't walked away with a grand total of FA, I appreciate its different and a fair bit of leadership probably comes from players from other teams, this is simply my opinion as a neutral.

Well that was ugly and got the majority of the rub but that'll happen some days law of averages and all. We'll have to step up the accuracy though to trouble Ireland.

Tackling was sloppy, kicking at goal and in general was quite poor and handling as well. It's the kicking that worries me most though.

Hoping Etzebeth is good and we see Esterhuizen and Moodie in the centers. Versus Ireland I mean, not just rotating for Tonga.

They play Romania first, right?
