[RWC2023] South Africa vs Scotland (10/09/2023)

I think personally Scotland have been pretty poor today, they give it a go but Russell is a one trick pony and has been at fault for at least one of the tries and lucky not to have been yellow carded too. Boks their usual solid self but nothing outstanding today. Scotland will be going home early for sure.

Scotland's two best chances to use an overlap have failed because once their wingers get the ball, they look to run at all costs, not pass.

If someone told Russell he's actually allowed to run before catching the ball it would be a game changer

I don't think it'd change the result, but Gardener has missed a few decisions today for both sides. He's been reffing the ruck and maul offside line like a wild super rugby game. NH teams will want to avoid him.

SA have been getting away with a lot of offside all game

Anyone still think Scotland are giantslayers?
Less likely based on today, but still very dangerous for Ireland who will need to be switched on.

Dependant on the SA-IRE result, it could be the QF spot decider couldn't it? (Or regardless of that game it still could play a role?)

Feel like Scotland could be seen to better effect against IRE than SA but equally in my view IRE form is stacking up left right and centre and I like their chances of ending the hoodoo and marching towards a final let alone a semi final.

SA once again looking frighteningly strong

Do Scotland deserve to win on evidence today? Probably not.

But my god have some of the decisions or lack there of been shocking

I mean, both have beaten SA in the last calendar year. Don't think SA are anywhere near as unbeatable as people make out.
Both teams at home, pretty sure SA went down to 14 in both and actually came away with a narrow defeat with a lot of momentum in the final stages, I'd also say SA are notably better now than then, I hope I am wrong I just think there pack is possibly too much for anyone currently.
