[RWC2023] South Africa vs Ireland (23/09/2023)

He definitely comes across as a good leader and motivator on the field. Part of the reason why Ireland don't look like Leinster in big games in my opinion.
I don't think he has every skill in the world but sometimes you just can't beat a big **** that's gonna run all over your big *****.

I think the concern for SA is they've gone all out to win this game through the forwards and bashing Ireland. I'm fine with their bench plan its in the rules etc - but they'll be worried right now as the physical approach worked for 20 but then Ire found a way of speeding the game up. Have they got a plan B with this set up.

Have they though or are they trying to preserve something for a potential final vs Ire and keep them guessing?

I mean, I just can't buy into that school of thought. They re going to want to win this game by all means, they'll have organised tactics and plans to do so. But I guess we'll never really know. Second half will be interesting.

Oh I'm not saying they haven't gone in with every intention of winning, just it probably isn't their only plan, I mean would they risk this pretty much untested in the final?

Thoughts on Ben O'Keefe so far?
Can see why he was picked for this game, as his interpretation of legal vs illegal tackles and clearouts is way way laxer than most other referees so we're unlikely to see a card, but he's consistent with it at least, and I've not noticed any other clangers

Ireland should be extremely happy with this. If 7-1 and DDA do not succeed in tiring Ireland and generating penalties in the second half the Boks are going to have to go back to the drawing board (in my opinion of Libbok, Willemse 12 and Le Roux 15).

The fact Ireland's defence consistently don't get pinged by a whole range of refs is a huge credit to them. Any other side here the Boks would be getting penalties.

Still plenty of game left in this Willemse looking sharp but

It's my stag do. I'm ******. Please reply with the general consensus of how things are going so far.
