[RWC2019][Pool B] Round 3 - England vs. Argentina (05/10/2019)

More than one - hook him off at HT.
It's not just his kicking, he's having a bad day all round; looks to me as if his head's been rattled - and with good justification.

I'd also replace Billy at HT - he's too important going forwards; and with that red card; we don't NEED him out there.
Agreed,
Ford/Manu/Slade is a hell of a combo, we don't lose anything there

I can see their reluctance to sub Binny seeing as none of our backrowers have played 8 - commentary mentioned pre-game that Curry will likely go there as Underhill/Ludlam haven't played there.....but neither has Curry? Has to happen at some point, though - he's not playing well and his ankle is more tape than man atm

Kearns 110% correct

Using the current protocol you could give that a red card (not should) but a 6ft 7 bloke having to dip that low is beyond a joke. That should never be a red, the protocol is wrong and it's ruining the game.

Do the sanctioning after the game if necessary, I'm not sure it's even needed in this case. No intent just a situation of body sizes.

Phil Kearns is such a fool. I don't disagree that the strength and extent of the new directives are ruining the game, but the red card in this game was so unbelievably clear cut. And while I feel a morsel of pity for Lavanini who was upset, he's also the most carded Argentine player and that doesn't happen by accident.

About the game.

Red card was 50/50, but we've got only ourselves to blame. Fair call.
Boffelli couldn't catch a cold. I have to think really hard to remember someone as bad at tackling as he is.

And Urdapileta's defense on the first try. How can that happen.

Wp by England. They are just exploiting our mistakes, which are many.

Any thoughts on a red card being:

Player is off for the match. Offending team is down to 14 for 10 minutes, then they are allowed to bring on a sub.

I don't think there is a problem with the directives as much as people are saying.

It doesn't really matter that was a straight red for a couple of years now. The new directives just mean the ref can't wimp out it as they have done.

Man I just wished for an intense rugby game that goes right until the end and then basically any side could win it. Can’t get that here anymore.

Now I want us to face England, they are gonna have to step up their game especially with the Farrel kicks if they want to play with the big boys of world rugby in the knockouts

Your saying 6ft7 players are allowed to tackle players with a shoulder to the head because they are tall?

That has always been a red before this new high tackle laws it was clear and obvious.
