[RWC 2023 Final] New Zealand v South Africa 28/10/23 20:00 BST

Don't think I've ever seen that properly penalised before - did they change the laws after the multiple horrible injuries from it?

Er what? That's not foul play at all surely? Is there really a law about falling like that?

Looked like the NZ player fell onto the SA player, but still nasty

Interesting, that's new to me. It makes sense though, because it's pressure on the legs that causes the big injuries.

Have new directives been invented specifically for this final, I've never seen or heard anything like it that I can recall.

Why do the commentary keep talking about the 7:1 on the bench? He's a forward it makes no difference - its only if it's a back that it's an issue

yeah, not sure why it has only come up now unless I missed it in other games.

I would say he's likely the one who would have played 80 tbh

True but they're saying the 7:1 is a big risk and is already causing issues, but Bongi getting subbed this early would be the same level of issue on a 5:3

One legged Bongi to come on at 79mins for a 5m attacking lineout to win the game
