RWC 2011: THE FINAL!!! France vs. New Zealand

Lol, there always will be... that's part of competitive sports... the What if's will always be in people's minds...

Bob Skinstad said after the game, if the Boks were in the final, then the AB's would have been in trouble today... but we weren't and that's how it goes, everyone will now have to rebuild... give credit where credit is due, and All Blacks deserves the credit given to them... no doubt about that...

I am especially happy for some fabulous players that has been a thorn in my teams' sides both internationally as well as super 14/15 to finally get the Grand Prize in World Rugby... Richie Mccaw, Dan Carter, Ma'a Nonu, Brad Thorn, Piri Weepu, Mils Muliana... You guys can celebrate this victory! See you all next year!!

Liiiike, what if the All Blacks weren't food poisoned?

Well the best team won the World Cup. Dunno about the best team on the night but that shouldnt let that take the shine off what they have achieved this world cup. France played really well, they could have won it with better luck and some of the 50/50 refereeing decisions going their way.

That was the best I've seen from players like Rougerie for a long time he was France's best back, looked dangerous each time he ran with it was was good in defence. Dusatior was immense, he's really improving with every game he plays for France. Think France can look forward now, I think Saint Andre will be worshiped by the squad more then Lievramont was.

This was a breathtaking game...

Right now I'm almost loosing my mind... But anyway...

Criticising the Ref will not make France win this game. Things might have been differents but they aren't, so let's just say that we were watching some of the finest rugby teams in the world, that NZ was the team to beat and that France, lost its luck this game, but regain its Rugby.
Still I'm crying, but sometimes I have to say that I prefer lost with the honor that win without showed a thing.

Congrats NZ, and be aware that we will not forget this game !!!! ;)

Haha, seriously? give it a rest! that's history, just like today's final, just like the Boks/Samoa, Boks/Aus, France/Wales game...

**** happens... so be it...

The next thing we'll hear is that France had their wine spiked last night... pfft!

Joke mate. You had it coming.

But if you want to look at it from a serious angle, I didn't see any French players vomiting tonight.

It was happening earlier than that, the French were flying up very fast at times.

He missed one obvious call where the All Blacks went to clear the ball from a ruck and it went straight to a French player who was allowed to continue play from an offside position.

That was the right call as he was the tackeller(?). Was the French openside, his name has slipped my mind somehow :S.

I don't think any team other than France could have upset the all-blacks today. SA are too 1-dimensional and formulaic, especially in the back-line. It was surprising to see such all-black nervousness, and french composure.

However, there is no doubt who has dominated international rugby for the last fifteen years. The overall quality of all-black play has set the standard for international rugby. How has it taken this long for the dominant international team to win this cup ? It seems that the all-blacks share a similar mental frailty to the Protea cricket team.

Anyway, congratulations to NZ and these all-blacks. Great team and great rugby.

Lol, all good mate!

I suspect there's going to be a baby boom now in New Zealand... you don't have any rugby games left until next year February... Party Party Party!!

To all french people: this is the moment not to start whining like the welsh last week, or the kiwis for the last four years. We weren't robbed, just not given an equal treatment.

All blacks, for everything they brought to rugby, deserved this win. Congratulations to them for this world ***le.

I hope next time is ours!

Who started to whine ????

Not us, ref is ref, it's (sadly) part of the game. The "what if" will not bring up a world cup, but now we'll have to wait 4 years to see an hypothetic revenge, cause THIS is to be avanged !!!! :p It can't wait that long !!!!!!

Of course we congrats the AB, that's the AB... But still, I've a small taste of unfinish work in my mouth... ;)

lol people are giving Joubert crap. Usually if a ref has a bad game we are here saying "how could he call that a forward pass! How is that not tackled in the air! Repeated infringements much!".

But all we see is "Joubert missed some offsides"... "NZ were cheating" "France were cheating" ect...

He did fine. Both teams had chance after chance to score points and run at the opposition defence, and he picked up on pretty much every blatant offence. I'm not saying he didn't miss anything, but it was a decent all round game that I doubt anyone else could top.

The ruck had formed. He was offside.

I'll have to watch it again, didn't pay to much attention to the thing then. But the stuff teams and this match the AB's (the French do it 2 ofcourse, but I saw more of the AB's tonight) get away with at the breakdown ruins Rugby. Other teams don't get the chance to contest at the breakdown or they have to do it illegaly like the AB's are doing very well without getting pinned which is: one guy hits the ruck then drives himself to the side of the ruck and keeps on driving thus offsetting the opposition bridge and allowing his team to come over and counterruck. After this they collapse and so seal off the ruck and win the breakdown.

Refs are IMO to soft on it and this would be something to adress over the coming years, ofcourse not everything is going to be picked up, thats part of Rugby and I wouldn't call it cheating if you get away with it. But IMO the breakdown is getting ruined by how they're allowed to seal it off. By just laying on the tackled player. (McCaw btw I don't know how he does it, or what he says to the ref ;). But he's brilliant, gets away with so much. Don't mistake this for hate it's more like respect.)

This isn't the thread to debate the breakdown though, this should be to discuss a great final and congratulate 2 teams. Wasen't a great WC IMO but I bet a couple of NZ's have something else to say about that :p.

Well then do what us South African men do, go to the pub, have some drinks... come back home, get some headache pills and then crawl on top of the missus... as you try to open her mouth to put the pills in, she'll wake up, ask you WTF you are doing, and then you tell her that you want to give her some headache pills... then she'll of course answer that she doesn't have one, and that's what daddy wants to hear! no problem!!

Really cool to see DC get the medal, oh yeh... Donald... :)
How many medals do they have made up?
I thought as soon as you were swapped out of the squad you were no longer part of it - wonder if they had to start knocking up a load more winners medals when players started going down injured
