RWC 2011: THE FINAL!!! France vs. New Zealand

Lol...

If New Zealand loses tomorrow I will be one of those guys to just point and laugh at all their fans who posted on the last few pages on this thread...

If I were you, I would remain humble until the end of the game...

Dear Blackdick
You perhaps should not count your cockerels before they're fully hatched. Who ever knows ...
Kind regards

Dear French Players
How are you today. i am fine. Hope you don't mind but, a wee word of advice, if I were you I would want to be getting on a plane to go home before my team gets demolished tomorrow night by a group of men in black shirts, they are very good players but not only that , they are close to breathing fire for all the horrible feelings they have suffered at your teams hands during 2 matches played in 1999 and 2007. They really are normal men underneath those black shirts but I if I said they'll be wanting to prove a point tomorrow night, it would be like saying Jonah Lomu was a reasonable Rugby player.
So when you hear a rumbling tomorrow night, don't be concerned about Earthquakes, it will just be the sound of 15 men in black and a few million people's Indignation at being stripped of something they feel was rightfully theirs a few years and finals matches ago
Kind regards
A few million All Black fans

Now I remember why I left home for the freezing cold of the north.

I did the opposite. I left our Pacific shores for...

... the middle of a desert. We have two seasons here: summer and January (northern hemisphere mumbo-jumbo).

All I read was[textarea]Dear French Players
We're arrogant, you're crap

People giving AB fans a bad name [/textarea]

God, some of my fellow Kiwis really **** me off sometimes!!

Talking to rugby fans in the area where I live, I really get the feeling that we (as a nation) have learned from the unpleasant experiences of 1999 and 2007, and grown in our attitude. While the media (both domestic and foreign) seem to have made up their minds that New Zealand's name is already on "Bill", I believe that the vast majority of All Black fan have no illusions about the French being well capable of winning tonight.

However, as with any large group of people, there are always some who are too stupid to learn.

The French Rugby team are like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates.

To ne honest mate, after reading a few of your posts, you're dying to do that regardless of whether or not a few All Black fans had been obnoxiously over-confident.

It's all about perception don't you think?
When I read that comment I think confidence I don't see arrogance.

It was clearly tongue in cheek anyway. He was just backing his team.

I

I'd leave that kind of bullcrap until after the final mate, you never know. It's a one off match, on form I'd say NZ by 20 but you never know how the AB's are going to react in a final, seeing they haven't been there for a while ;). Sorry easy shot. And if the French play, they can play some damn good rugby.

Whoa Guys, just trying to have a bit of fun and lighten the mood a bit, half the reason the ABs have the pressure they do is because people take the game way too seriously, it's only a GAME and lets keep things in perspective.
I, for one, am fed up with people saying " ooooh, look out it's the French! Be afraid........be very afraid" seriously, if the ABs don't win tonight I'm seriously thinking of giving the game away, which will please a few people on this forum because of my perceived "arrogance" I'm sure.
This AB team are hurting, the coach is hurting and so are a few million NZ fans 'specially some of us in good old AUS who have have been slighted FOR YEARS for being ' Chokers' on the big stage.
I DON'T think this game tonight is all done and dusted. The ABs STILL have to win it, my 'letter' was a lighthearted attempt to maybe gauge the mood of 15 men and a few million fans as they run out tonight. So to some offended few, Please take a chill pill 

Good man!!!

P.S. Should we win tonight, The only people/person I would only want to take a pot shot at would be a certain Phil Kearns of the Fox Sports show ' The Rugby Club' who has emphatically said " the All Blacks WILL NOT win the World Cup without Dan Carter" now that's arrogance!!

Good man!!!

Thanks James5000 i appreciate the comment  it's good to know that hopefully most (?) people on this forum see where I'm coming from. I LOVE to see the ABs performing well as they have been and silencing some of the scorn that has been directed at them over the years.

I honestly think NZers get a hard time when we talk up our All Blacks. Why shouldn't we be able to be proud of them?
We have the best record in the history of the sport. Win or lose tonight and we can still be proud of them

I think people get a bit confused spotting the difference between confidence and arrogance.

Chris Rattue is arrogant. Most NZ fans are confident, we know nothing's guaranteed tonight but we think our team should be favourites.

No doubt about it: on paper, New Zealand is the better side, and should win easily (my own prediction: NZ by 25). Even the most (naively) optimistic of my fellow countrymen are willing to admit it would take a perfect match for us and a mistake-ridden performance by the AB for us to have a chance.

What I have a hard time understanding is the arrogance of a lot (the majority?) of New Zealand supporters and the aggressive tone of their messages. What purpose exactly does that serve? If you win as expected, you'll have what you've wanted for the past 24 years (a world ***le) and you'll have proven you're the best in the world, so why even waste your time and energy riling up the French fans? If the stars align against you and you end up losing against all odds, you'll have made complete fools of yourselves bragging about a guaranteed triumph before the match even got started.

In any case, here's to hard-fought, tighter game than most people predict, and... ALLEZ LES BLEUS!!!

To BE honest, I'm actually supporting the All Blacks in the final, you one-eyed douche! (and I don't mean your Avatar).

You are right in what you say.

The thing that I find funny is people accusing people of being arrogant.
Some times people don't arrange their words correctly and are assumed arrogant or mainly people read a comment and they perceive it as arrogance and than comment on it.

They are the truly arrogant people.

No, not a majority.

That might be the perception if you listen to the talkback and read various rugby forums, but in that, you are not getting a fair representation of NZ rugby fans. Of all the people I call friends and acquaintances, with whom I discuss rugby and go to matches (and there are a lot of those), I am the only one who posts on rugby forums and rings talkback.

IMO, the aggressive, arrogant fan is very much in a minority here.

yes but why the aggresiveness and arrogance towards everyone else on the forum?? It's the World Cup final!! of course people are going to talk crap about an opposing team or the team you don't want to win...

it's certainly not the fault of the members of TRF that NZ has had a 24 year WC drought, nor is it the members' fault that France has never won the WC...

If you can't take the knocks, then don't play the game... this rule applies to life, rugby and comments made on TRF!
