RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 OFFICIAL VIDEOGAME SET TO OFFER THREE SEPARATE COMMENTARY TEAMS

Sky Sports Commentators Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes join Philippe Sella and Eric Bayle, and Greg Clark and Sean Fitzpatrick.

Milton Keynes, UK â€" [01, Aug 2011] â€" UK rugby fans should prepare for a multilingual treat: Global video game publisher, 505 Games and developer HB Studios today announced that not only UK and French commentary teams, but also a team from the Southern hemisphere will grace the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2011 Official videogame.

Naturally, Stuart Barnes and Miles Harrison head up the UK team. Well-known for their Sky Sports rugby commentary, they have been the voice of Sky’s Rugby coverage for the past two decades, covering all major Rugby matches and tournaments including previous Rugby World Cup matches. Barnes is a former English Rugby Union fly-half for Newport RFC, Bristol, Bath; and represented England and the British Lions at international level, while Harrison is the lead Rugby Union commentator for Sky Sports.

Along with the HD broadcast quality gameplay â€" covering each pass, kick, tackle and try â€" Rugby World Cup 2011 will offer an unrivalled level of officialdom, capturing the game of Rugby like never before. Players wanting a bit of Gallic flair on the commentary wings can opt for the French partnership of Philippe Sella and Eric Bayle.

Sella, who once held the record for most international rugby union appearances, was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 1999 and the IRB Hall of Fame in 2008. Bayle is lead Rugby Union commentator for Canal+.

Fitzpatrick, is considered one of the finest players ever to wear an All Blacks shirt and was captain of the New Zealand international side for five years (from ’92-’97). Rather appropriately, he was a prodigious product of the Auckland provincial side whose home stadium, Eden Park, will play host to the Tournament this year. Clark is FOX Sports’ host of ‘INSIDE RUGBY’ and is a well respected journalist with 27 years broadcasting experience. He is considered one of the best ‘callers’ in Australian sports television.

The addition of an unprecedented third commentary team adds yet another dimension of officialdom. The Rugby World Cup 2011 Official Videogame already promises to deliver every pass, kick, tackle and try to gamers fingertips - each of those will now be accompanied by the players choice of commentary from six of the most well known voices in rugby.

I'm not ashamed to say that me and Cymro changed our commentary from Barnes to Clark & Fitzpatrick :p

I am astonished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is incredibly good work from HB. These lads listened to their fans in this regard and seem to have tried to get as many good commentators as possible. Wonderful work!

Edit: I'm really stunned. I can't believe they've done this. This will be awesome!!!!

Are comments specific to each commentary team or have they all used the same script?

Also, can you play a tournament and let the commentary for each game be randomly assigned? So you never knew which team you'd get for each game?

Awesome that they've got so many!
Only problem is... I hate Stuart Barnes with a passion...Sky commentary team doesn't come anywhere near that of the Beebs. Hell, the quality of commentating on S4C (the Welsh language bit anyway, English language one is awful) is 10 times better.
Still, really happy that they listened to us and put in more than one commentary team :D

that's pretty awesome. I think the norm for most sports games is like 1 or maybe 2 commentators max sometimes but 6 is a great effort.

I hear those two get on a lot of peoples wicks, but for us over here who never hear of them it'll be kind of fun. Sometimes you want to hear someone like that to fire you up while you play. You can always just switch to someone else for the next game, or can you? :D

So we can switch at any point? That's brilliant. I'll be doing it reguarly. I really hope the Frenchmen shout "Oh lala".

I'm not sure there'll be much in the way of deliberate cultural stereotyping.

Mores the pity. :D

Can't switch within the game. We ask you to choose on the way in when you boot the game. Can restart and switch languages though. All languages are available to all regions for the first time in our games.

They do a bit! Just be glad Bath isn't on the game, you'd never be able to shut Stuart Barnes up :p Tbf, I got very very sick of hearing the commentators in 06/08, so I think a variety is fantastic! I can definitely see me putting the French commentary on for a fair bit :D a lot of the heinken cup I watch ends up being from french channels, and I just love the way the french commentate, even if I can only understand bits of it. One of my favourite examples is of a french commenatator in a Catalan Dragons Super League match going absoloutly mental when there's a fight then a try straight from the penalty. YouTube has let me down though and I cant find the clip :(

It's a shame, but I totally should've realised that the French are obviously only speaking French and you can't use them as an English commentary (I think both those guys can speak English), but a little shame that you have to reboot the game to change between the other two commentary teams.

Might even want to listen to French sometimes too. :)

Still, all of those options are a class act guys. :D

Great news. Looking forward to hearing the different commentary teams!
As long as the commentary is reaonably seamless and natural I'll be happy, even if it is simple enough.
Can't believe that we'll finally be able to play the game tomorrow!:D

I love clarkie, Awesome choice Hb. Would have never guessed. Anyone want to say how good it is. Do they shout when you score!!!

Not BARNES! I'd rather listen to a constant soundtrack of angry cat sex. For a man who played at the highest level he rarely knows what he's talking about, coupled with his obvious bias you got an all round crap commentator. Don't think i'll be choosing that commentary option lol it'll have to be the french or the NZers, if only Bill was still around.

Oops called greg clark a NZer, thought I'd correct myself before I got any peeved off Aussies :)
