RWC 2011: Custom Jersey Designs

[M Two One]

I've been thinking about designing my own rugby kits for some time, but I never found the time to do so. Recently, I opened Photoshop for the first time in months and decided to give it a go. I decided to make a logo for my own work (temporary design for now at least) and have dubbed the brand "Ridge Sports" - don't ask.

The shirt can be modified several ways including different collar styles.

Some brief details about the shirt: I wanted to use clean simple collars since those are the most comfortable to play in. This is something I wanted to concentrate on for the design, comfort for play.

I also added my own idea for a scrum. There is specific padding on both shoulders to reduce stress on the player's upper body, thus allowing him/her to push harder. Taking some inspiration from Canterbury, this padding would also be sticky. There is another spot for the padding, but it is located on the back covering the ribs and kidneys.

There are more additions that you can read about in the images. I'll probably end up creating a few more of these in the coming days/weeks if there is enough interest to continue.

Very nice!

If it were me, I'd try and make some particularly original shirts. For instance stick with the English shirt and colours, but maybe give them bands around the waist or somethign - mix it up a bit!

But they look fantastic!

Quite a talent you have there in designing. These one look waaaay better than their current RWC kit. If you were to do a Samoan design may i suggest that you have the TAULIMA (Samoan tattoo) on the sleeves or on the back much like their 2007 design. keep up the good work. +1 Rep

@ Invictus: With a completed psd, each one only takes about 15 minutes at the most. The showcase template is also modifiable so each one only requires some minor alterations and to slap on the jersey and team logo.

@ AfaksaiAssasin: I'm glad you gave me the name of that specific Samoan tattoo because I couldn't find anything decent that could be modified and applied to the psd. I originally wanted to make Samoa over Argentina. There is more I have in mind that appears on the back, but I did not create it as it would take too much time.

I think you should edit some of the features decription eg

SLIM FIT: Material hugs body like a second skin to....make the front rows look completley hideous. You can even see the outline of their nips.

Other than that, looking very good. Think the Argie one would be better without the wavy hoops but generally very good effort.

I'll probably get to Canada soon, though aside from a leaf somewhere I'm not sure what to do with a special design for it.

Yeah, those skin tight jerseys look bad of front rows. I should know ... I play there myself. Still, I like the tighter jerseys as they're more comfortable to play in.

That would work perfectly actually. Anything clear and large would be easy to alter. I'm also looking for the Aussie one that utilizes the coat of arms.

Racing Métro 92 Paris, Decazeville and a few others currently use those colors actually.

I actually think colouring the tattoos has made it much better, very well done. Look forward to seeing your Wales one (you know you want to). Maybe you could also do change kits as they tend to vary there colours, gives you more room to work with.

The RWC game should actually use this as there shirt for Samoa, just change the emblem to a Samoa flag, they'll even have to pay you for the licence!
