Rugby World Cup 2023: Opta's team of the tournament

Injury looked like it would derail Dupont's World Cup, but in the end it was the Springboks who really shattered his dream. Limited to just 200 minutes of action he still made the joint most offloads (10) of anyone in the tournament, avoided 55% of the tackles that players tried to make on him and created five breaks, the most of any scrum-half.

And didn't play in a SF or Final.

The only, fairly major flaw in using Optas system without weighting is the difference in the number of games played. Frankly having anyone from a side who didn't make it out their pool is pretty suspect.

Disagree. You could be one of the best players in the world but just be on a **** team.

Theo McFarland got an honourable mention. Imagine if he played for England or New Zealand and performed the same way (stats wise). Would that then be okay to include him in the side?

I'm not saying you can't be on the list if you don't play for a good team. The point is that other props and 7s played similarly well and had to play 3 games more
