Rugby Stadiums in Aotearoa/New Zealand

Since Aotearoa/New Zealand is a Rugby country, I was thinking that the stadiums in Aotearoa/New Zealand have 22m ingoals. However, as far as I have seen on the TV, the ingoals are only 10m. Is there any particular reason?

And what do you think about my idea: 105m (93m field of play, 6m ingoals)*68m field (Same as Association Football) and moving the goals from the goal line to the dead ball line?

(In Rugby League, the length of ingoal is 6m-11m)

They vary due to the size of land available. While we have lots of available land, stadiums tend to be built in built-up areas, kind of "artificially" affecting the space available. I happen to not know exactly myself, but the in-goals are about 10-15m long just based on what I've been able to see myself. The ones I've been to, namely Eden Park, I don't recall actually paying much attention to that. I think Eden Park's in-goal is about 12m though.

6m in-goals is too short. Don't like the idea of the goal posts being on the dead ball line instead of the goal line.

6m ingoal is not too short, because Rugby League's ingoal is 6m-11m. And goal on the goal line is an obstacle for players. Goal should be placed on the dead ball line, like American Football.

I also think 6m is too short. far too short.

Oh right, I should have paid attention to who posted this thread.

Go away, please.

Is this guy seriously not just some idiot trying to troll us?

I swear every suggestion is trying to turn the game into American Football

Why not just watch American Football instead of rugby?!

I do not think that 6m is too short, because according to Rugby League's rule the ingoal is 6m-11m. 6m is enough.
And don't you really think that goal on the goal line an obstacle for players?

Well this is NOT rugby league, its Rugby Union and our "LAWS" are different

[TEXTAREA]LAW 1.2 REQUIRED DIMENSIONS FOR THE PLAYING ENCLOSURE

(a) Dimensions. The field of play does not exceed 100 metres in length and 70 metres in width. Each in-goal does not exceed 22 metres in length and 70 metres in width.

(c) The distance from the goal line to the dead ball line should be not less than 10 metres where practicable.[/TEXTAREA]

Most Rugby grounds in New Zealand have 12 - 15m in-goals. Rotorua used to have 20m, but I'm not sure if they still do.

Oh, and as for your idea....

why don't we play rugby on an oval shaped field, remove the crossbar and add two shorter posts beside the goal posts. remove the drop kick from the game altogether as well as the try. lets be honest here, who cares about the try, lets just make it 6 points if you kick the ball between the goal posts and a consellation point if you miss, we can call that a "behind". stuff it, the refs should be called umpires, just like in cricket otherwise it's just not cricket. the umpires should throw the ball in instead of hooker and only 1 player from each team can contest the linout. there should be no kick off, the umpire should bounce the ball and only 1 player from each side can initially contest the ball. they should also remove rucking and scrums and make it a free kick if a player is tackled an can't dispose of the ball correctly. we also need 3 more players on each team and have unlimited use of the bench throughout the game. while we're at it, get rid of the offside rule, it's to confusing.

c'mon guys, what do you think?????????????????????????????

[additional sarcasm]Not only that, but we could award a free kick for a mark taken anywhere in the playing area!!!! How about that?[/additional sarcasm]

You see, your sarcasm did not fall on deaf ears here, though I expect it will go right over the OP's head.
