I have a bit of an update.
My source played the game earlier this week and noticed very little difference with the game from RL2. It appears initial concerns have been realised. There are one or two little tweaks, such as a few close ups with player stats appearing at breaks of play. That sounds like a good idea to me like, gives it more authenticity.
Could you slide your defence left and right with R2/L2 before the play of the ball in RL2? If you can't, then that's a new feature. If you press both your defence compresses down the middle. I think that's a new feature and if it is, fair play because that's a good idea, not that you generally make a break!
So it sounds like it will be almost identikit with a couple of changes. If you didn't like RL2 odds are you may not like this. Until the issues surrounding sidesteps and player turning times are dealt with it will still, sadly, be fundementally flawed.
