Rugby Championship: New Zealand - South Africa (15/09/2012)

That's a rather peculiar NZ team. Why remove the flair of Aaron Smith? Flair was always the one thing that NZ did better than us all the time.

Weepu starting, hmmm... are they preparing for some box-kick wars and aerial ping pong?

that whole team of NZ tells me that they want to keep the ball close, and play a tight game. Andrew Hore, Liam Messam, Piri Weepu... This spells out that the All Blacks are gonna use their forwards a lot more to run at the boks.

Apparently Aaron Smith was dropped to the bench for "breaking a team recovery protocol". At his best Weepu has plenty of flair - probably more so than Smith - but whether he is "at his best" is another thing altogether (though he was very good off the bench last week). I'm not sure the other changes necessarily point to the AB's playing a tighter game - Hore probably plays a tighter game than Mealamu, and Messam these days plays a tighter game than Vito, though Messam is equally adept at playing a looser game. However, Sam Whitelock certainly play a looser game than Retallick. I expect the All Blacks will continue to try to play a very expansive game - whether they will be able to do this or not with Weepu at halfback is another question!

i think vito, kevin and ratlick had a poor game (for their standards) last week against the Argies... might be why Hanson dropped them...

HM himself said his team doesnt travel well. All Blacks are on a serious winning streak and i dont see it ending this weekend.

A distressing thought just popped up, what's the chances HM makes Morne Steyn the Bok Captain for the next 3 years?

Will he do a kakker job than JDV?
I've never really been lead to believe that Morne has any leadership qualities.
JDV certainly isn't the best captain around but he lead the Stormers to a few tight victories this season.

That said Strauss should be captain IMO, not sure why he isn't already.

****, had my hopes up but now Icemn says the Boks gona win, he has never made any sense in all his 14 years of life on this planet
Dammit dammit dammit ;)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA:lol:

was unsure about the test tube period buddy, sorry, your details seems deep confidential, I smell an undercover agent here

Heyneke Meyer responding to the people criticizing Morne Steyn:

"I don't think he should change the way he plays, I think it's more the outside backs who must use their opportunities.

UNBELIEVABLE! Blaming the entire backline, except Morne Steyn.

well that proves it, Morne Stain (like in ****) gives a fcking good blowjob, atleast he is doing something right...

and Morne said this week this style won them the 2007 tri nations and a world cup, now if a player don't have the vision that the game is changing and the coach has 60 reasons not to blame his poorest player I have no respect for them, they must f@ck it up and yeah, 1 in 6 will be a victory, hooray

We won the Tri Nations in 2009 ;) but your point is just obvious to everyone except Heyneke Meyer. This is the first time I am more excited about Currie Cup rugby than Tri Nations/TRC matches.

The problem isn't the style. It's that Steyn isn't performing the style well, like he was in 2009. There's a difference. If he was playing with the same style like he was in 2009, South Africa would have certainly won both the draws, and possibly the Australia match as well.

Just select the game plan which suits the players you have, for example Italy don't have the players to be able to have an effective backs game and are better suited to a forwards game using their best players Casto and Parisse.

Canada on the otherhand, have a poor set piece, but quick mobile back rowers and nimble backs, so their game plan is best suited to spreading the ball out wide.

If Italy played a backs game they would be crap, and if Canada played a forwards game they would crap. So think of the game plan to get the best out of the current generation of players.

Mythbusters 1) I don't think the 2007 and 2009 Springboks were playing exacly like this Springboks. Especially in 2007 a good honest fly-half (not yet mind exploded) helped the Springboks to develop a more variated game-style as he can attack well (and high) each defence!
I'm talking about Butch James, still selected up to 2010, that in 2007 added good handling, vision and passing skills to the only kicking offered by Morné Steyn

Mythbusters 2) the fact the Bokke are not executing perfectly their gameplan, does not mean that if executed perfectly it would work. IMO surely it wouldn't against All Blacks and the Wallabies which use to play SA at least 3 times each year.
These 2 team especially adapt their game to the Springboks and read well the (very few) question mark they fronting, because when you have only 1 gameplan, you can't be competitive at this level, as smart defence and sharpened attack can nill your only strenght and beat you in each other aspect of the game.
Even if you're performing it at best!

Sad to say (for me, as Italian), but South Africa isn't Italy or Canada, much more are expected from this team and rightly so!
