As This is somewhat not official My Uncle's Friend Is Good friends of ROG.
Ronan's exact words were That he plans(planned) To retire from international rugby in 2011.
So what this most likely means from my perspective That Ronan will retire from international rugby after the world cup. He will continue to play for munster not for ireland.
No this not any sort of lie to make you all jump out of you're seats.
I guess you guys are the first of the public to hear about this.

Makes sense really, I expect there'll be a fair few players from a fair few countries who retire from the international scene afterwards

Good job (for Ireland) that iHumph is cracking these days

From everything I know about the man (which admittedly is just the public face) I can't see that happening. He just seems to driven. I think he needs to be playing at the top level of rugby while he plays.

I think O'Gara, D'Arcy (sad face), Wallace, Stringer and maybe O'Callaghan and BOD will all retire from international rugby.

Other players like Hayes, Mick O'Driscoll, Paddy Wallace and Horgan as well but their international careers are already over anyway

Lads I know for fact this isn't fully decided yet and let's not forget ROG just sighed a central IRFU contract but it is well known he is considering it but lI've him or hate him he has done alot of good for Irelands cause and can't understand how people can sort of cheer as if he's been terrible his whole irish career

He's a jerk. I'm happy to see the back of him. To reiterate, hurray.

People often forget the mistakes and the bad rather than the good. He cost the Lions and ultimately that will stay with him for the rest of his career and life.

Saying that he has been a good servant.

i think after the RWC we will se many players leave the international scene.

He may be a jerk as person, That personal opinion but as a rugby player he has achieved alot and done alot. Yes he has made major mistakes (Lions etc) but for Ireland he has been a saviour on many occasions and well again he has had a great international career and will be remembered as 1 of Irelands greatest 10's.
You can say Sexton this and that and maybe Sexton will be a superb Irish player (possibly the best 10 we have had) but at moment he still has to earn it.

What happened on the lions tour?
Also every body on this thread knows O Gara so well that they can call him a jerk

I actually know him well and he is a cocky SOB, stubborn and bit of jerk :D
But he a fine 10

i dont really care what he's like off the pitch as long as he delivers the goods on the pitch.

He's not a nice lad at all!
Who remembers this infamous incident?
