Lots of self-righteous old guard with the bought silver, money club etc if they start winning.

Other clubs will definitely not want relegation to be a thing, especially it's them at the bottom.

In terms of sponsoring an individual player of their own club - counts under the cap.
In terms of going round the houses, so it's a company 6steps removed from RedBull - I'm sure there's a point where it just becomes too much for the SC commissioner, but would still technically count under the cap. Then of course, if they do win the Prem, there's a forensic audit, which would go way further around the houses trying to find them. I'm sure there's still a point where it's beyond anyone in a reasonable timeframe (and cost to PRL) to find it (thinking, the supplier of a separate arm of a supplier of an officially separate business under the RB umbrella... Eg, if the company that sells tanning chemicals to the co oany that sells leather to Honda, who supply engines to RedBullF1... That's technically an affiliate of RedBullUK, but I wouldn't like to be the accountant sorting that out - and that's a quick trip around the houses for fairly obvious links)

In terms of sponsoring an individual player of a different club - that feels like a conflict of interests - especially if that player ever makes a single mistake when playing the owned club

Their media guy is tying himself in knots trying to quash any and all speculation on the little sports network board, while not saying anything 'officially'. Until the ticket renewal email today the club had said NOTHING about the current situation all summer. All we hear- unofficially of course- is 'don't believe the rumours'. Except, the months-old Red Bull 'rumour' has been treated as fact by both The Guardian and The Times now, and at least one of the player rumours just came to pass as well. But yeah, everyone do as you're told and ignore the rumours...
Okay, so commercial deals are delicate and can take a while, but the way Falcons fans have been treated for months is getting on for contemptible. I'd say that we are akin to mushrooms, but at least mushrooms actually get fed something...

Absolutely understood- but then, the media manager is still posting on a public forum telling people not to believe rumours etc, even though some of those rumours have come true already. It's madness- they can't have it both ways.

It makes buying a season ticket a "buyer beware" transaction, because if this deal isn't done there won't be enough time to scrape anything else together like the other clubs arranging loans (which they can't afford but anyway..) and Newcastle no longer has a team. And you won't get a penny back on that season ticket.

I think I’d take the fact the tickets are now on sale as a very positive sign that the deal is done. Although personally I wouldn’t be putting my hand in my pocket until we have that confirmation.

The first fixtures aren’t until the last week of Sep so they could easily have held off a few more days if there was real doubt. I’m sure it’s just confidentiality requirements, but either way welcome to the world of big business controlling the (non) narrative.

Of course if it did fall through it would be spectacularly calamitous PR.
