Well this fixture seems to have just pounced upon us very fast. Should be interesting to see how many of the "stars" feature. The Ospreys have showed some good form with the youngsters, so i hope they are rewarded for their good performances. Gutted I'm away in Weston Super Mare this weekend, hopefully i find a sky pub and ask nicely for S4C ;) ;) hahaha

I know, normally the boxing day game is the first derby game of the season. Let's hope there's no 'burst pipes' again.lol Ospreys are playing well but it depends on the team sheet who wins this.

Two great turnovers already from Tipuric. Neither team on top yet, hence the 0-0 score line.

Fotuali'i playing very well

Shame Priestland/Maule/Davies aren't playing for Scarlets

How bad was the ref! If you are gonna have a ref from outside of these countries at least have a decent one. He seemed to see several non-existent Scarlets knock-ons, and ignored Osprey ones. And I'm not just being biased as Tipuric yellow card shouldn't have even been a penalty.

North made a huge impact. Ran straight over Bishop, that doesn't happen very often! Then showed some great footwork on a few occasions to beat the first man with ease. He looks to be getting better and better, cannot wait to see just how good he'll become.

Not the greatest of games unfortunately. Ended 9 all, and that's probably a fair reflection. Waay too many errors from both sides, pitty because it had the making of a great game.

That was about as good as the matches yesterday.
Truly awful. I actually wonder why I sat through the whole thing.
I really need to find something else to do.

Shane made an impact for Ospreys too

Fussell had a good game, I thought - wonder if he'll be tried in the Wales squad in the 6N (shame there's no AIs to try out new guys)

...

I know you ended up being right about Priestland, but I do not want to risk it for Fussell. I'd rather try Cuthbert or Martyn Thomas who seem less prone to howlers.

Would definitely rather Thomas to Fussell

Fussell couldn't tour anywhere sunny either - his albino skin would burn something rotten
Didn't realise he was as old as he was either (he's only 27, but I thought he was a few years younger than that)

I don't get what you see in Martyn Thomas Draggs, but I think Fussell is all around a much more useful player and not half as injury prone either

for me though, I would select Tovey as reserve full back behind Halfpenny, he's not going to be first choice fly half any time soon so I would back him to play there if Halfpenny gets injured

Martyn Thomas may be injury prone, but he's a much better fullback than Fussell when fully fit. He was the best fullback in Wales before his first serious injury, and was being talked about quite a bit on here as a future international player. He's had the worst of luck since, but if he can stay fit, then I'd say he's international quality. Fussell is all opver the shop. I thought he'd found his calling at fullback for a while, but he seems to do a good thing followed by a bad thing, and is generally a little all over the shop. Better on the wing.

I think Tovey needs to be kept at fly-half. He's got a few weaknesses, but his general play is of a high standard. His main problem is consistency, seems to be a bit up and down. For Wales, the depth we have at 10 mainly depends on how Hook goes in France (a good debut by all accounts), and whether Gatlans sees merit in keeping Stephen Jones around the squad (terrible game from him tonight mind). Other than that, behind Priestland, who else is there?

I had more fun watching then rake water off the Rodney Parade pitch. (Which was actually entertaining, I'm not downplaying it)

Tovey should be in the squad for the Australia game. Wouldn't start him, possibly even not hand him the bench spot, but he needs to be in and around the squad, as I reckon if he'd been given the opportunity that Priestland has, he'd probably be even better. I'd still rather we stuck with Rhys, but Tovey coming through will be important, as Stephen probably only has a year or so in him, but should also defiantly be kept in the squad, for morale if nothing else.

Was it just me that was hugely unimpressed with Fotuali'i ? I missed the 10min before and after half time, so maybe I missed his best passage of his game, but from what I saw he was very average. He was slow getting the ball out of the breakdown, and some of his passing was shocking. He tried to take the ball on himself sometimes, but seemed to just run across the pitch instead of going forward. Then there was the knock on from a simple catch, and he kicked the ball out on the full. Some of the issues could be down to him still settling down in the squad and the systems, afterall I have no idea what system the O's are using in attack. Seems like everyone and their dog get's a shot at taking the ball at first reciever on occasion. But some of his errors were very basic. I hope Rhys Webb isn't just cast aside now Fotuali'i is there, because Webb has been in excellent form for a wile now, and probably still deserves to be the Ospreys no.1 scrum half.

yes I would agree with you as well, but I hope it was him just not being used to squad and systems as you mention, as he was great for Samoa in the World Cup and Autumn Internationals over the past year

Underwhelmed is exactly the word I'd use for Fotuali'i. He even said in his post-MOTM speech "I probably don't deserve this..."

Ospreys desperately hurting for some spark in midfield. Beck will be a good player but has a way to go. Bishop is a very good defender but offers little in attack. Not sure what has happened to him over the past year. The Ospreys have quality in the wings with Williams, Walker, Prydie but they hardly see any ball. I can't remember seeing Walker being given the ball once. The sooner they bring Prydie in at 15 the better. Barry will never be fully fit and Fussell is a liability at Pro12 level. Better off on the wing, but he won't get a shot with the other players ahead of him. Not to mention the young Ravens outside backs, Luke Morgan and Ross Jones. Both will certainly be options for the Ospreys in a few seasons.

Very impressed with Tipuric. Harsh yellow, he is just doing his job ;) So glad we will have him pushing Sam for the 7 shirt for years to come. Sam Lewis and Ben Thomas are also impressive young back rows, hope to see more of them.

I don't think Prydie should be called "quality" yet
