RBS 6 Nations - Ireland vs Scotland - 10/03/2012, 17:00

Why doesnt tuohy get the call, I don't understand hes better than McCarthy.

Yup, agree completely. I could understand bringing McCarthy to the world cup seeing as he could cover the back row as well, but picking him now is a bit nonsensical. I'd have both Tuohy and Toner in ahead of him, considering that they're both playing at least as well as McCarthy and will be around in 4 years time.

Call ups are BS, Kiddney has lost it, I will not support Ireland under Kidney from this point on. I really don't know what kidney hopes to accomplish with this championship. Is there any logic, we lost the slam in the first game at that point changes should have been made. They weren't. We played ok against Italy but we're just in another class to them even with Kidney as coach so this can't really be used as evidence IMO. Due to us scoring 40 points nobody was as ****** off about the team and the other Sh*t kidney dose and we seemed to forget. The draw agist France was unacceptable, we spent what 15 minuet in their half mostly in their 22 and scored noting that can't happen. Now the only change we will see is 9 and it will be simply moving one up in the order. This 6N is a wright off I don't care if we lose anymore. If we were to try a new team out and lost but in the process found a new team for the future I would be happy. But he won't so i'll be ****** off and this is a waste of time

The team I want to see
1. Healy
2.Best (would out Cronin in here but Best is now captain right?)
3. Court (give mike a rest)
4. Ryan
5. Nagle (he's in the tackle bag squad isn't he)
6. Ferris
7. POM (SOB has been good looks like hes getting the han of 7, but we know how could can be we don't know that about POM)
8. Heslip (Some people say he;s been poor I disagree looks a little off but not bad)
9. Reddan (who the **** else could we pick)
10. Sexton
11. Fitz ( One of Leinsters best this season)
12. McFadden
13. EOM (these two could be the future we should find out now rather when they're 30)
14. Any winger from the lot they're all good I really don't mind
15. Kearny(Our est player this 6N great on Sunday and in Dublin the week before.)

If we picked this team would could see who can make it and who can't.

To be honest im kinda getting frustrated with Kidney's calls, im 50/50 on whether Kidney is the right man at the moment.

This match will be interesting defensive wise for Ireland.
I can't see them playing at the same intensity so Sexton mightn't be tackling Morrison like he'd did brilliantly against Rougerie on Sunday and D'Arcy and Earls mightn't be double tackling like they did against France. This will leave both centres more exposed which should lead to more line breaks, luckily for Ireland, Scotland aren't very clinical.

This should also be a good chance to improve both the kicking and running games.

If that's the case, I am very worried for the future of this Ireland team. I'm not disagreeing with you and I understand this will be their third game in a row but if we can't keep our intensity up then we have some bigger problems and there are clear examples of how our intensity massively drops in certain periods of the game.

It has been the case for about a year and a half now. Compare the Australia match to the Wales in the World Cup, South Africa and Argentina in the 2010 AI's to The All Blacks match and all of the other games of last years 6n to the England match. Unfortunately it's be one of our biggest problems recently.

Law of averages suggest that Scotland should eventually get the rub of the green. Therefore I'm going for another away win in Dublin... I also feel that this time they will out score Ireland on the try count by 3-1.

not too far off! Robinson has changed the half backs for you and put Hogg in, whilst Parks has retired

Welsh playing tighthead for Glasgow last Friday made a mockery of Ed Kalman's selection, hopefully from Scotland point of view Kalman gets no more caps, Welsh isn't the greatest but he's a lot better than Kalman

I agree in regard to Jackson, I saw him play last Friday for Glasgow and his goal kicking was completely off, handed the Ospreys a bonus point they didn't deserve

I'm not too impressed by Morrison/de Luca centre combination either, they played in the tryless match against Georgia and were very uncreative

Most of the selections were never really in doubt (1, 2, 4, 7, 6/8 [Brown injured of course], 13, Jones), ones that were not supposed to be in doubt are 3, 9, 10 and 15, but we digress.

Welsh was injured/ coming back from injury at the time of the Wales game, whilst Kalman had put in some good performances for Glasow in he previous weeks. So couple that with the Welsh, Low and Dickinson ( :( ) injuries with Murray/ Cusack non-availability, presto Kalman is the next choice in Scotland. After the 6 Nations I expec he will go back to 4th choice at Glasgow.

I am willing to give credit to the cnpentres, they were decent against France. Don't think they will have a repeat performance, but in a coaches position yi dinnae break fit's wikkin.

Referee: Chris Pollock (New Zealand). Assistant referees: Romain Poite (France) and Greg Garner (England). TMO: Giulio de Santis (Italy)

Will this be Pollock's first tier 1 international?

Hopefully Pollock will not be afraid to properly ping any more blatant off-side disruptions the men in green may indulge themselves in...

How is it that O'Leary is back in the squad, it shocks me. Surly Isaac Boss is higher up if he was named the initial squad. Disappointing not that I expected more.

De Luca - Never to be forgiven for brain-dead sin binning against Wales and missing a sitting try in World Cup. How does he keep getting selected?
On another note - is Evans injured? Why the bench?

Not liking the look of this. Reckon they'll be bouncing off that Irish defence for 50 minutes and Kearney and Bowe will be ripping them apart for the rest...

Not defending O'Leary but he is rightly ahead of Boss as Boss hasn't been great either and well pretty much destroyed his own chances in the A game. While I can understand Marshall ahead of O'Leary calls based on form, no way Boss. O'Leary was picked ahead of Marshall simply because he has an IRFU contract at present and has experience.

why list the players' clubs, I don't think Jamie Heaslip has ever played Naas, which I haven't even heard of, or Tom Court for Malone

Court spent a lot of time playing AIL when he first came over actually and I believe he still has strong ties with Malone.

Max Evans has missed a bit of training time because of both his injury at first and the trial (of which he was found not guilty), personally I am surprised he was selected at all.

Otherwise de Luca is selected because there is no-one else (bear in mind the Robinson set Ansbro on a career path because he doesn't really rate de Luca), and he had arguably his best performance against the French. Dropping one of the best performing backline players from the last game is usually considered a coaching/ selection gaff.

I'm getting the impression from munstermuffin that players on central contracts are subject to a degree of favouritism (for want of a better word). Which is idiotic. A couple of years of form or a big repuation and the team is plagued with the player for the next 4 years regardless of form or actual ability.

In some upbeat news: Wallace is back in the Munster squad for the Arioni match. :)

Pretty sure Heaslip has strong links to Naas played for them when he was younger, his brothers and friends play for them also.

I challenge you to find a picture of Heaslip playing for Naas then, he probably hasn't played since 15 or whenever he joined Leinster's academy

Probably played under 20's with them and before he broke in. It's the way it works here. Players do play for their club more than people think mainly when they're younger or coming back from injury. He won't have played for them for a few years but the affiliation between players and AIL clubs is stronger than most think. Also academy stuff only really happens during the summer.

I haven't read back on this thread or anything, but Heaslip's club is Trinity College. Hence his Lions jersey hanging in the club house.
