Ah I did completely forget about Knoyle! Heard Watkins was impressive for Bristol last season and looked very sharp so far in preseason. He qualifies for both Wales and England I think too?

Anyway, 1st XV could be very tidy looking now that Anscombe will come over in October and Adam Jones has signed :D
Only weak spot is in the centres with (at the moment) only Allen looking like a top class player. I do however quite like Richard Smith, so wouldn't mind seeing him starting ahead of Evans and Hewitt.

Yeah pretty sure Watkins is looking at pushing for a Wales berth, which is his reason for signing. I know a lot of Bristolians who believe he is a natural try scorer and will do well when he settles in.

With game time I expect him to stay on the wing with Richard Smith playing more at 13. Hopefully Hammer see what all fans see in Gavin Evans .... Allen-Smith would be my choice at the beginning of the season, but I think Hewitt will continue at 12 for a while! There is a rumour we are still in the market for a big NZ centre, following the injury to Owain Williams. Time will tell.

Apparently Wales Rugby League fullback Elliot Kear has been talking to the Blues, which would be interesting. Could potentially see a Kear-Cuthbert-Allen-Patchell-Watkins-Anscombe backline lining up. Alternatively, he could play wing and the whole team could shuffle again. I'm sure he's a fine player, but I do question why the Blues, suddenly blessed with fullbacks, need him rather than a centre.
