Premiership Rugby 23/24 - The Final Chapter - Live on ITV

Well done Saints. Brilliantly brave effort from Bath.

You win as a team and you lose as a team. But you can't really sugar coat that Obano let his team down.

Been saying for years that Underhill's England's most important player.

Just watching highlights.
The first try would have been drooled over by people if it had been NZ.

I know there's a lot of hype and chat around him, but wanted to say how maturely Finn Russell played yesterday. Supremely calm under pressure, especially leading the team around the park with 14 men.

Has this "maverick" reputation but much like his test for the Lions in South Africa, I just think he's a real world class 10 and an excellent rounded player.

Really enjoyed watching his performance personally.

Didn't see the game but he's matured a lot both on and off the pitch since he became a Dad. Think the co captaincy with Scotland has also helped develop his leadership skills and overall game management.

The fact that he made the shortlist for player of the year as determined by his fellow pros says how well he's done in his first season. Don't think he's scored a try for Bath yet but as he says it's his job to make other boys look good.

Hendy is good but he's not a regular starter so shouldn't really leapfrog the other saints back three.

I can't see us keeping him, Furbank, Freeman and sleightholme though. Thats too many talented outside backs and we don't have sarries or tigers accountants .

So Leicester and Northampton are the most popular rugby teams in England?

It's tough to tell, and depends on what you mean by "popular".

Do you mean people who attend club matches? In which case, are you judging it by the size of the crowd, or the proportion of seats sold? Are you including 1-off matches at bigger stadia?
Do you mean people who support the club? Buy replica kits? Turn up occasionally? Watch on TV?
Do you mean popular amongst rugby fans? So fans of other clubs who have a 2nd team? Or a preference when watching as a neutral?

My gut feeling is that Bath, Leicester, Northampton and Gloucester are the best supported clubs.
My gut feeling is that Northampton, Bath, Harlequins and Bristol (depending on which half of the year) are this year's "good guys" with the most neutral support.
Leicester get the biggest crowds... and have the 2nd biggest stadium.
Bath sell the biggest proportion of seats... and a stadium approximately half the capacity of Leicester or Bristol.

Exeter used to be "everyone's" 2nd team, but kinda lost that through racist chants and conspiracy theories.

In terms of pure support base I would say Leicester is prob the top on most metrics you can use generally within reason.
But we are lucky cause we have a big ass area, dominant at a time when the football never really won anything and I would even say more popular out of the city than within. The season tickets alone is generally more than most clubs average home attendances.

But Leicester are prob the least popular around the league outside of Sarries

Finally watched the second half, for me underhill was way above anyone, always remember him being WC tackling, has he been carrying that well all season? seems to have really added go forward to his game which was probably one of his weaker areas previously. Really hope he can have a injury free run and keep his head away from concussions, at 27 he's the kind experienced influential player England probably need now Faz and Lawes are gone.

I never hopped off the Underhill bandwagon and I'm beginning to feel vindicated. He is in the guise of Hill in that he loves doing all the donkey work but seems to then have a bit more on top of that too. Having someone who seems to genuinely enjoy doing their role in the team is so important. Not every player needs to be flashy, sometimes you need his week just do their role very well and consistently.

My only concern has been about injuries and concussion.

Agreed always rated him highly just seems to have built on what was already superb, I didn't want him involved too much due to the concussion piece, all said and done him and the medical teams are best placed to decide, if he's good enough (which he clearly is) then fine I guess.

I think someone lese on here had said it's more of a "who do we want to interview" thing.

Maybe they thought there was a redemption arc story in that it was implied it was his mistake that lead to a Bath try, and he makes amends at the end.
