Premiership Rugby 21/22 - Rd 14

Well played Bath. Exactly the kind of win they needed. Not pretty, but showed they wanted it.

Ojomoh did well, Hughes was fantastic. Now they need to build it and get some confidence because, although they were the better side, they still made mistakes and Quins were poor.

Plenty to improve on, but still a deserved win with a patched together side.

I like this thread.

Hughverine comes across well, not sure I've seen him speak before

So Ojomoh, young so no rush but is he a real talent? Ive not watched alot of Bath games, i know he likes an offload and feel he reads well but not seen much of him.

Is he a future England 12 or another who is Flashy but wont progress to the top level? Is he a big fish in a small pond?(Bathtub :) ) or a genuinly talented player for the future?

The trend is if they are 18 and talented we cry for a call up(not happening yet for him) but still i hope he's more than hype and a flashy player.

Yeah nice to have them actually not be a complete disgrace every 1 in 12 games...
Just beat the Prem champions, pretty convincingly. Hughes was quite something today and clearly had a point to prove, not sure how you deal with it when Faletau is fit if he carries on like that

He was called up over the summer :p

I rate him massively, and have done since pretty much the first time I saw him for Bath - got a big future ahead of him

Quins we're awful. I'm embarrassed, but well played Bath (kind of).

How many first choice players does Bath have out injured/with COVID at the moment?
Sorry, missed this yesterday.

1. Obano (Knee); Boyce (Injured); Schoeman (Covid)
2. Dunn (Injured)
3. Stuart (England), Jonker (Injured)
4.
5. Ewels (England)
6. Reid (Injured), DeCarpentier (Injured)
7. Underhill (Concussion), Bayliss (Concussion)
8. Faletau (Ankle)

9.
10. Cipriani (Concussion), Bailey (England), Schoeman (Knee)
11. Cokanaisga (Knee)
12. Clark (Injured)
13. Wright (Loan)
14. McConnochie (Knee)
15. Watson (Knee), De Glanville (Injured)

I'd say that, all fit, then the bolded would start, the italicised would bench. Becomes slightly different is assuming all fit and in form; and of course, opinions will differ. In form, you'd pick Cipriani ahead of Bailey, backrow IC and back3 become very hard to call.

Our available-but-not-selected list looks to have been:
FR: ___; LK: ___; BR ___
HB: Fox, Green; CE: ___; B3: Atkins

I really don't like to use injuries as an excuse, especially when we're still able to field specialists in their position (except FH last night) but it's been like this all season, and it really can't help on the training pitch - eg - who do the pack practice scrummaging against if they've got a technical issue they need to sort out?

Crikey. Is Hooper kneecapping someone everytime Bath lose?

In all seriousness, I doubt that we've had a single full-contact training session since pre-season - which again, can't help when you're desperate to rescue your season. but we've got too many positions where every fit player is playing, that you just can't risk even a minor knock fro training.

Again though, we're (mostly) still able to put out specialists in their position, and 20-30% injury list is the norm, with 40-45% being not too abnormal - for a week or two.
We might have dropped below 40% for a week or two, but I can't think when that would have been.
Faletau is our marque player - he's yet to train fully since getting injured with the Lions.

As we're talking about it, I've looked up the minutes played for my pre-season first choice 23.
Using statbunker (last updated 10 days ago, so before we played Leinster and Quins; which means 13 matches or 16720 minutes of rugby).
Our first choice 23 racked up 7328 minutes between them.
