Pre-Season 21/22

Tommy Allan is a arguably the best/second best second string in the league to be fair.
Jamie Benson coming through as well is a good prospect
I totally forgot! Apologies haha... won't he get called up though for Italy a lot? Also apparently Tyrone Green can play 10?

We've got a couple guys coming through the academy: Kieran Wilkinson and Tom Curtis (Dean Schofield's stepson)

One of the crappy things about last season was the lack of game time for younger players - no A games or lower level rugby to loan guys out to,
Think Wilkinson is supposed to be the better of the two and does seem to be higher in the pecking order (14 senior games vs 7) - hopefully see (at least) one of them kick on this season,
Reckon Wilkinson will come into the side while AJ is with the USA
Yh that's a good point. Again why i am glad that Champ rugby is back as great for young lads to toughen up.

Yes i agree....that did dent a few teams plans on the academy players i would have thought.

Very excited to see Saumaki... also did anyone realise Steward is over 105kg and 6ft 5??? What a beast.
Yes, that plus the way he's been playing at such a young age, is why so many England fans see him as a real genuine option at 15 going forward.

I'd presume this is him calling time on his italy career tbh - he's behind garbisi and canna in that pecking order.

Green is still listed as a 10 but hasn't played there

Thats potentially some back 3 for the Tigers...Potter is a cracking winger aswell.

Yep. Swap Steward in for Hegarty, Saumaki in for Nadolo and Potter on the other wing and that looks like the starting back three.

To be fair, I think this lineup is very close to what we'll see on the opening day.

Also learnt about Harry Potter... Born in Wimbledon, game time in Aus... trained at Hogwarts... but in seriousness he's a strong wing option... bit like a Bassett or Thompstone etc.. may not get the recognition that they want but will always improve the team.

This.

Benson is very well-regarded. If we can get 2/3 good seasons out of Allan, I'd hope Benson will eventually become Smith's understudy.

A lot of people seem to really rate him. I can't say I've really noticed him that much TBH. I'm not saying he's a bad player, just that I wouldn't pick him out for particular recognition.

Actually wonder if we will have steward on the wing v Exeter

Maybe an experiment to see how to defend the 50/22 rule against a team with a very strong territorial game.

I think hes one of those who'll turn out to be a fantastic premiership winger for the tigers. He just has an alround skill set, and looks strong.

Thats exactly what top challenging teams need. Players who consistently perform at a high level yet dont quite make the international sides, so teams dont suffer.

Josh Bassett, James Gaskell, Tom Cruse are my contenders for this.

James Gaskell, Tom Cruse
dwayne johnson youre welcome GIF

Yep. I'd say the same about players like James Chisholm or Cadan Murley for Quins.
Absolutely, hes exactly that type of player. Consistently excellent every game...spoken about for England yet never quite made the jump, so always available for Quins

Thats what championship winning sides need...

Exeter have a lot of them.
