[November Tests 2017 EOYT] England vs. Argentina (11/11/2017)

Not sure I follow the logic there. Slade is playing in Farrell's 12 shirt. If Slade were to impress that comes from playing outside Ford not Farrell we'd actually have no idea if Farrell/Slade is better than Ford/Farrell only what Ford/Slade is compared to our normal paring. It might be Farrell/Slade is awful.

If Slade has an absolute stormer to the extent that he demands selection against Australia, Ford will be dropped for Farrell. It's not totally logical, but that's what will happen.

When it comes down to it, Farrell will be in the side for any crunch games based upon the boot if nothing else.

Which makes no sense because all but one of the crunch games England have lost have been with Farrell at 10 instead of Ford.

People seem to be forgetting that Farrell is England's 12. Ford is the 10. Ford will not be dropped even if Slade has a stormer at 12.

England's record is significantly worse with Farrell at 10 then Ford. I think it's something like a 20% win/loss drop and if we're picking a 10 based on he makes us feel comfortable he can kick a goal, then that's a very sad mentally to have.

England's entire attack is based on Ford's skills not Farrell's.

1014 have pretty much nailed it anyway yesterday, teams set their spines of 2, 8, 9, 10, 15 at the start of the last world cup with a few exceptions. England nailed theirs to mast as well and it is:

2. Hartley
8. Vunipola
9. Youngs
10. Ford
15. Brown

You can argue the merits of 2, Vunipola's injury is privately probably a blessing with Hughes and Simmonds to a lesser extent being tested, Youngs and Ford just won't be dropped, it isn't happening 2 years out from a cycle and Brown dispite being 33 by the next world cup, to make a change now makes a big difference to how we play so he won't be dropped for me. They are the 5 nailed ons, guaranteed to play in their position no matter what. It's basically the same for most major nations bar maybe Scotland and South Africa that if you look at the spine, you may not be totally happy with the players but for the coaches, they are the go to leaders and spine of the team.

Or that Slade will have performed at 12 with Ford there not Farrell, who is a much more creative 10. Oh and he performed well in the summer with Ford not Farrell.

I just dont like that we atm dont have any tested depth in 2 8 9 15
George hartley
Billy hughes
Youngs care
Brown.

Who is our next choice in them positions?

Who is our next choice in them positions?
2. George, Taylor/LCD (3rd choice lacks caps)
8. Hughes, Simmonds (3rd has no caps, maybe one today)
9. Robson (no caps), Maunder (1 cap)
15. No one

So we've been very lucky with injurys in core positions but we do lack depth as you say.

Only one that I would trust to throw in now if fit is Cowan-Dickie.

wanted to see kramer at 7! hope he performs. concern in the mid field: iglesias 12 ? wonder wich juani will show up.. Heavier pack they must have been practicing scrum..
They are planing a kicking game with juani. Cancellere is origilally a winger he`s been playing in Arg xv as a scrum half. He did good. This will be very different dow.
Some hope on our back 3.
we loose. by 15
.

How the hell does Lavanini get selected?

long story! first there´s not so many young second rowers his size and weight, he is strong and very important in the srum. we have a very light and soft first 5
that s why he is in
i hope he stops hes penalty/ card randez vous if he focuses on hes duties he could complete

Taylor and dickie both been long term injured
Couldn't tour
I believe eddy will call wigglesworth he doesn't call him into squads because like cipreani it would a be a waste of thier time as they are obviously 3rdchoice
8 fingers crossed they keep fit
Brown's back up comes from Daley Watson

Thing about Argentina is you can usually count on there being at least one key moment where they take a big and totally unnecessary risk, whether it's an unnecessary kick or pass in the wrong area, often coming at the end of a load of phases so that they gift possession away with their players all over the pitch and no organised defence to speak of, which gifts opposition ways back into a game. Often it's the most experienced players who do it. Without that, I doubt England would have won our last tour there, and they probably would have more Rugby Championship wins to date.

In general I'd like them to sort that out, but not today!

Wasn't Slade pretty **** over the summer?
I remember everyone being in agreement that Francis was significantly better.
I remember Slade having a couple of moments, but didn't he have an absolute howler of a first test?

Really do not like Lavanini, especially after he got away with nothing more than a penalty for charging his shoulder into Hughes' knee at the back of a maul moving forward. Forget cynical, it was outright malicious and almost looked like an attempt to ruin his knee, just look at the angle it bends to in the video if you can find it...

It Is worrying they arnt tested and some havnt been in the camp but take your point. Good news thought, LCD is playing for chiefs in AW cup this weekend so hopfully he picks up where he left off and puts his hands up for the future.
