Northern Hemisphere vs Southern Hemisphere?

Hardest hitting, yes (Although Butch James would run him close) but i don't think hes the best actual defender going. I thought he was at one stage but the amount of tackles he missed on the 05 Lions tour was silly.

However, Wilko makes hard LEGAL tackles, Butch James generally doesn't use his arms.

Wait until the Wallabies start playing Tatafu Polota-nau at 10.

God knows where I saw the post but someone said O'Driscoll is better than Conrad Smith?
I'm truly baffled by that statement. Truly baffled.

i dont see how pleading for ur life is the opposite of crying?

You do realise that's Mr Burns speaking and not BOD ...

I wonder why we there are so many WUMs who have nothing better to do in their lives than just WUM it up on the boards.

The last time they played O'Driscoll was the better player on the pitch.

Do you find yourself getting confused easily? Is it a regular thing?

He's a Welshman on a Kiwi mountain surrounded by foreign sheep. What do you think?

Well that's debateable, he scored a nice try but made less line breaks and tackles than Conrad Smith. In the match earlier in the year, Brian O'Driscoll certainly didn't look in the same class.

Agreed
Conrad is clearly the better player atm, for me
BOD is better if you take in to account his whole career, but Smith is better now

Good point. Smith is the best. O'Driscoll is rubbish really. More hype then substance.

All Blacks rule.

Nahhh I can honestly say Ive seen the error of my ways. Smith is a seriously classy player. Ive said it numerous times before and I'll say it again that he makes New Zealand tick. It will always be Smith + 1 in the All Blacks midfield for me. As for his form with the Hurricanes, well thats obviously not his fault. He should be commended for remaining loyal to them.

O'Driscoll on the other hand. Well if you remove things like results, scores and performances (even current ones) from the equation ........ there is really little substance to him. Hes got half the talent of players like Ashton, nowehere near the potential that Henson ever had, but was lucky to play rugby at a time when every other nation was kinda shite.

Any records hes broken were bullshit, things like defense and leadership dont count because well they arent flash enough, In fact I'd say those two, and the ability to kick the ball from hand should be treated as negative traits when evaluating players.

On the other side things like International form, nationality (genes are critical when analysing players ability), and the ability to Chaaarrrrggggeeee! are far more important.

Anyhoo, all these factors conspire to make O'Driscoll look like a slightly above average player who will always pale when compared to the might of any All Black.

All Blacks rule.

If only ever poster could see the light, thanks.

Location: Smug City = Bang on.

I just have to say, this: "things like defense and leadership dont count because well they arent flash enough...the ability to Chaaarrrrggggeeee! are far more important" is a seriously poor aspect to bring up when discussing merits against Conrad Smith.

when discussing merits against Conrad Smith.
I was talking about O'Driscolls deficiencies not Smiths merits. Smith shouldnt be mentioned in the same thread as a mickey mouse half-arsed rugby player like O'Driscoll. Hes an All Black ffs.
