Nonu keen on Hurricanes

It's vital that the Hurricanes sign him up.. He plays his best where he is comfortable in the environment he is in. And it is in Wellington.

He should just give in and come to the Reds already, I'll give him tree fiddy.

Without a club since the end of his contract with the Highlanders, Ma'a Nonu is considering a departure for the Northern Hemisphere, including the Top 14.

According to information from the team, Clermont are studying carefully the CV of the world champion All Black to strengthen the back line where Aurelien Rougerie has still not returned to competition and in which Wesley Fofana will be missed for international matches. However, the sports daily said that Ma'a Nonu could also become a freelance for Toulon who only have three centres in its workforce.

He is also being linked to Montpellier but i think that could be the press more than anything concrete, but there are definetly rumours around Clermont and they could afford hom .........wait and see, if he's short of cash he will be coming to France.

.....so not going to Montpellier then!!

Nonu.............L'Equpie reporting that negotiations have opened with the NZ Federation for his release so he can move to France and he is to consult his own lawyers with Clermont the favourites last I heard......................

bizarre situation with Nonu.

basically burned his relationships with the Canes, Blues and Highlanders and the Crusaders and Chiefs quite rightfully don't want him. To the point where even Hansen and Tew cant talk a NZ super team into having him.

I mean Nonu basically shook JK's hand and then did a deal with the highlanders behind the scenes.

Seems Jamie Joseph wants nothing to do with him either. after a period where nonu played well for the AB's came back and played crap for the highlanders and got red carded. Highlanders had given Nonu a contract to sign for next year but nonu let the clock run down on that and now the offer is gone.

Seems down to the Canes and Hammett.

Looks like he will take a sabatical. It is a very unfortunate/bizarre situation. The ABs clearly want him, and rightfuly so IMHO. But no NZ super rugby side wants him, and rightly sagain.....

He will go overseas, earn some money, and try and come back, but IF SBW comes back to NZ, and IF Saili comes on, I have a feeling this is pretty much the end of Nonu.

Worst thing for me is I feel like he had a really impressive game last night, one of the best on the park, only to ruin it with another mindless yellow card. I've been a Nonu supporter for a while based on the fact that if you put the dumbass penalties and Super Rugby attitude issues asside he is easily the best 12 in NZ and has been for a while...Not sure how much longer he will be able to go on like this though.

There are players that come with a high risk and then there are just stupid players... Noun seems to be falling on the stupid side now. It's no longer a one off incident here and there, every game he's doing something idiotic! I do still rate him, he played well last night. I detract everything I've said in the past about his kicking game, it was a pleasure to watch last night (however sometimes he should of distributed rather then kicking highlighting his average vision and decision making) his running game is still a major threat to opposition defence which is his best aspect of his game. I think it's def time to edge him out of that 12 jumper now. One can only think as well that if he goes he will not make it back with SBW and saili next year. Unfortunate...

For Argentina they should start saili and bench nonu or potentially leave him out altogether. Really time to start filtering him out and getting used to life without him

It would be a troll if Ma'a joins the Crusaders and then 2 years later joins the chiefs Then Ma'a would be the first New Zealander to play for all the New Zealand Teams but I think he will join the hurricanes to reach his record of most capped . BUT HE should play for the Chiefs at least if SBW returns then yea

BUT HE MIGHT PLAY IN EUROPE or JAPAN
It depends on the CASH

Japan net worth for Nonu : $1.2M AUD
France net worth for Nonu: $800,000 AUD
New Zealand teams: $755,000 AUD

(per season)

More word that Nonu is going to Clermont - no one seems to be denying it as well, so imagne there are a few contractual issues Nonu has to sort out in NZ and then the signing will be confirmed.

Care to share where you are getting that figure from?

EDIT: the reason I ask is the new collective agreement signed in last month indicates the maximum Super Rugby retainer for 2014 is $185,000, ITM cup is $55,000, and AB contracts are confidential. Makes me wonder where the heck you got your number from.....

The other point is that it is very likely Nonu will be granted a sabatical so the tradeoff in terms of cash is a super rugby contract vs what ever money he gets for his new club.... a far cry from $755,000 vs $800,00 I would say!!

Sorry AB's I was just estimating but I don't know much about Rugby in NZ but He might get around 115,000 AUD

But if he joins an Aussie club which would be the best he might get around 250,000 AUD

EDIT: I got my facts from an estimate from looking at team values both in France and Japan
$1.7 M was offered to SBW for 12 game s
and I estimate that Japan will pay about 1.2 M for Nonu for one season
