as a new zealander its intresting to read the fluty article and to see quote from london irish such as "we will go after a big midfield signing" is there a depth issue in english rugby as a whole or would this be a one off?
[/b]

Who said they won't go after an English centre with a big reputation?
[/b][/quote]

nah what i mean is do all those clubs over there sign players from other clubs all the time like in soccer or do they have there own coming through

There are a lot of foreign signings - there is no benefit to clubs in having England players at the moment, the ongoing battle with the RFU means they are missing them for half the season.

There are also very good young English players coming through as well though. Some particularly exciting backs for the future.

That's confirmed. Fred Michalak will play for the Natal Sharkd next season. He should fly to SA after the RWC.

So will he be allowed to play for France, you wouldn't think so with the 6N being on the same time as Super 14.

He has already explained that he would not play 6N next season.

Fair enough

Word on the terrace is Carlos Spencer is off to Agen and to replace him Northampton have recruted Stephen Brett. So there's another brilliant talent for Grayson to ruin.

To be perfectly honest I wouldn't be too disappointed if that turned out to be true. Spencer isn't firing this season and can't control a match to save his life.

If this Brett guy can kick, it wouldn't be a bad thing to see him and Myler battling it out for the 10 shirt.

Scrap that then, we've just signed Everitt.

Amusingly enough, people have been moaning we don't have a goal kicker for 2 years, then we sign a fantastic kicker and they moan some more.

Good signing in my view, a player able to control a game with the boot, while also underated for his ability to get backs moving.

If it means we start being average again it'll be a start. Although he won't turn up until next season, so we have a problem there; It may be too little, too late.

Pluys, I just hope he doesn't turn out like the last O'Irish player who came to us a couple of seasons ago.

Agen intend to contract Kelleher too.

As an Ospreys fan that's great news about Mike Phillips choosing us over Leicester and Harlequins.

9.Mike Phillips
10.James Hook
11.Shane Williams
12.Gavin Henson
13.Sonny Parker
14.Nikki Walker
15.Lee Byrne

Sounds like a good strong back line. I'm looking forward.

But it's a shame to hear about some of the guys due to leave the Dragons.
Gareth Cooper is leaving them to go to Gloucester - if he is their first choice scrum half and if he stays uninured England will be able to see week in week out how dangerous a player he can be.
And it looks like Ian Gough could be moving to Scarlet if he doens't agree to the ultimatum propsed by the Dragons.

Actually the rumours are that Ian Gough has also already signed for the Ospreys!

What?
Where are you getting this from?
Ospreys don't need Gough.
He's a great player, but Dragons need him.
Surely we can't steal everyone.
We'll end up trying to make the actual welsh team as the ospreys!

I'm truly gutted for the Dragons if that's the case.
Good news that Sweeney and Charvis have both signed 1 year extensions on their contracts.

for nz rugbys sake i pray they havent stolen brett hes just burst onto the scene in the crusaders. stop throwing money at all our boys!!

Thats only the Western Mail saying that. None of the clubs have said they have been incontact with Phillips and to be honest the Western Mail is hardly a reliable source!

Tis a pity that Cooper is likely to go! Again it has worked for Mefin Davies!

There are no such rumours!

If Cooper is coming to Gloucester that will make it an interesting battle for the srummie starting position with Pete Richards, Haydn Thomas and Rory Lawson already in the first xv. i can't believe we will need four top quality scrummies so maybe one or two off to somewhere else? Ill watch with interest.
