The new Qantas Wallabies jersey, designed and manufactured by Australian sports apparel company KooGa, has been unveiled today.

Technologically advanced â€" with materials including carbon fibre and hydrosteel used in the manufacturing process â€" the jersey is the first to be produced under a four-year deal that will continue until the end of 2013 between Australian Rugby Union and KooGa.

Retail orders for the new jumper have also been exceptional both in Australia and offshore where interest extends from Japan to the USA, the UK, Continental Europe, Argentina and the Pacific Islands.

Essentially all-gold, the new Qantas Wallabies jersey has been labelled “virtually indestructible†while also possessing qualities that will significantly enhance a player’s comfort levels.

“The unstinting efforts and enthusiasm of KooGa have been keys to ensuring the Qantas Wallabies have a playing kit for 2010 that we are all delighted and proud to reveal,†said ARU Managing Director and CEO John O’Neill.[/b]
Well, here it is. We've been waiting ages since the announcement that Kooga was taking over from Canterbury of New Zealand. What is the verdict?

Personally I like it with 1 singular exception: Where's the flippin' Collar, Kooga?

Yeah it's very simple, it does look like a tee, but i'm sure they'll do a supporters shirt like England have with A COLLAR. I like it, it's minimalist, but cool.

Yeah, it does look more like a training top than a match one, the neck makes it look like that
Not bad though, just looks like it always has (not a bad thing), i like the stars on it

The Southern Cross on the front is a nice touch. Do you think they will make a supporters jersey? I've never seen Kooga do that, they just typically make one that they sell to fans and it's a replica. I could be wrong.

Kooga normally do a "Liquid Pro" which is an exat replica, and costs a bomb, then a supporters which looks almost the same, just isn't skin tight/fancy material (this is what they do/did for Ospreys/Scarlets anyhow)

For some reason the first thing that came to mind was 'Celtic Crusaders' Not sure why, apart from the design being vaguely similar. It's not a bad kit i guess, looks a bit too much like a t-shirt for me, would be nice for some proper rugby shirts to come out.

Also, haven't they gone more canary yellow, or is it me? And NO grip panels! OMFG!

I'm not exactly sure on how I feel about it. For some reason the lines bother me.

All the socks need is buttons for eyes and they'd be the smartest sock puppets since Sooty and Sweep. The Australian Rugby Union, with performance garment manufacturer KooGa, yesterday unveiled the new Wallabies playing strip in Sydney, so technologically advanced Doc Brown could use it to go back to the future for the fourth time. The retro, predominantly gold jersey invokes memories of Australian rugby's glory days and was clearly the headline act with its state-of-the-art design featuring five different fabrics - created to give players up to a 4 per cent performance advantage on previous guernseys. But Wallabies vice-captain Berrick Barnes was more impressed with the socks. This world-first technology combines a compression garment with a padded bottom, which the maker claims will not only prevent injury by providing support to calf muscles and ankle joints, but give the Wallabies an edge by making them more comfortable. Barnes added the padding would also relieve back pain. But like Anakin Skywalker's transformation to Darth Vader, the technological enhancements don't stop there. The forest-green shorts feature chamois at the sides so players can dry sweat from their hands, while the jersey allows unhindered body movement and breathability. It also has carbon fibre that draws heat away from the body and is water repellent. If we didn't know any better we'd suggest KooGa had paved the way for Nick Farr-Jones, John Eales, George Gregan, Michael Lynagh and David Campese to return to top-flight rugby and pull Australia out of the doldrums.[/b]

Wow. But does it have an anti-knock-on system, or make Matt Dunning kick even longer drop goals?
