MegaUpdatePatch (MUP09)

Well, it's all going well. I have now got MUP09 Euro but with Super14. I just have to add some new graphics and we are rolling.. oh and make some kind of copy roster with S14 players.

It's all looking good, and luckily the most major files seem to be ok, i just have lots of minikits to do. All the adboards, balls and most logos are re-useable.

Has anyone done an S14 roster yet?

I have but on 06 :(

He is, and i can use it.. i did forget. I have a memory like swiss cheese ;)

hey I was wondering if there was any update on the problem with that file that makes the rosters usable in world league?

That's fixed. There are no issues with the file, just sometimes with the game when you add it to the directory.

I placed it in the folder "rugby 2008" with the other files but when i do it, the game just stops working and there seem to be no other RDF files there

ok just to clarify the links in the first post are the same as they were a few days ago?

I really need to speak to someone who knows something more in depth about files. I am just copying my MUP09 Euro files in the new directory and in the search, EVERY file has a duplicate. Can anyone explain why i have a duplicate of every file, because i didn't put them there.[/b]

Hey Fa'atau, I actually work for Microsoft in the technical support dept, when you say duplicate files after coping, do you literaly mean the same files twice or does it rename the files eg. file1.big and copy of file1.big, what option did you select when you copied the files into the directory.

Vista gives you 3 options:

Move and Replace
Don't move
Move but keep both files.

Please give me some more info on this, or alternatively just pm me for my mail address.

I understand what you are saying, but it's the files themselves. I edited some of the files (as i normally do), but i did not copy them in.. they was already there. It seems to be with all programs i used, buigui, fshed and xvi32.

Now, if i go to copy them out of that folder, they revert back to the old files. I can move them without a problem, its just the content of the files is how it was 2 months ago before i edited the files.

Good work with MUP 09, I've been playing it for a couple of days, and its really quite good. Thanks to all the contributors of the patch

Really the only real things that affect the game are the kits, and roster. The rest of it is purely for looks and realism. What i will do, and i think it's a much better idea is just make the files available for download in packs, so you can add what you like.

The idea would be to get some of the menu graphics and updates from MUP09 (like the background and updated menu graphics) with the other mods (underarmour, boots) with updated schedules for modes, but not change anything. I then can make mods to replace just the super 14 probably, as it won't affect the way the game runs.

It's a shame this game doesn't have a custom league mode. I will try to get MUP off my PC at some stage, but i'm gonna start on other mods first.

Ok, i have figured out the vista issue. Basically, the game loads the correct files, but i have shadow files which are causing the old ones to appear. The only solution as i figured out is to copy out all the files, so i get the actual files as they'd appear (incorrect) and then update them all and paste them back into the directory to test them, or i could package a few of the ones that was missing and test it before i release the whole patch.

It's look as if i can release MUP 09 after all.. you guys just need new updated files to replace the old ones that copied out. The process might take a few weeks as i sift through them all.. i also have to add some kits.

I will need some testers, i have some in mind so hopefully his won't be long.

Hey man, let me first just say this patch is awesome, I don't miss the s14 at all, and that was all I used to play!

I've still got a few errors, my players get injured at a super high rate 3-4 players per game, every game, even though I dropped the frequency in the menu's. The other problem is with missing graphics, I'm Harlequins in WL and I was playing against Biarritz and quite a few ad boards and billboards were green with missing texture written on them, not sure if I was home or away though.

Otherwise excellent, and I can live without the ad boards, just thought I'd let you know about them

All i can say is that the files you have are not the true patch, and i am working on it to release it. I have figured out why vista has messed it up, and that's why you have the bugs.. because certain files are old and you are getting conflicts.

Ok, i would like one XP user and one Vista user to test MUP09, but i would like to test it with people who downloaded the last version. Any takers?

Dady11 is helping me, but i need one more. The idea is that if i can get it onto XP, then it can be zipped up on there rather than vista.. but i need a vista user to test it too.

Ta very muchly.

Just leave your email here.

[email protected] - I can test both for you if you like, running XP and Vista at the mment

Cheers Enjay. Dady11 is testing XP, and you can test Vista, and XP if you like.

Cool bananas, what files do I need to download and test for you, I have my removable driver ready :)

BTW, can I bother you to create 2 kits for me, I have hi-res pictures of the teams, I have given up on the kit making and will stick to editing rosters and game files ;)

This whole shadow copy is really frustrating. Basically, i need the main file (the real one) to be updated with the correct date setting, and the shadow should be the same. I am getting that now, but for some reason some of the files work and others don't.. the one that doesn't is one that is fine, as far as i can tell.

Having so many files makes things extremely confusing. This whole patch annoys me because it's in my nature to want to control it and see how it is progressing and i am not in control.. well i thought i was with my version of MUP09.

I want to make a complete patch rather than have a mishmash of files from 20 different modders which are disjounted to say the least. Vista just makes things 10 times worse. Vista makes me feel like i'm retarded when i can't get some simple computer basics to work.

Enjay.. basically i have just taken the files from the zip i uploaded for MUP09 and am updating the graphics all over again. I have tested some with dady11, and for some reason Dax minikit stays the same, it is not overwriting.. that's on XP. My Dax minikit file is updated by date on 22 Feb, so you should get the same.

I have done nearly half of the files i need to update, and then the plan is to copy them to a new folder, thereby making every file newly created, without overwritting. Then i can zip up that file and all should be ok. That's how i do individual files usually.. so just putting them in a zip should not alter that.

The key is the importing. By importing and then not creating a new file (by copying) the file is ok itself, but it doesn't save the modified date. Therefore, the computer reads it as it was before, i.e shadow copy. The shadow copy comes with the with the file and should only cause an issue if the real file and the shadow have different dates. That is what i am doing now, i am updating and then copying to a new folder, so shadow copies are the same.

I don't know how good vista files are backward compatibility wise with XP. So far it seems hit and miss. The whole editing of the files is very technical and confusing in any case.

Enjay.. i will email you a small selection of files that i have updated, therefore they should appear updated on your XP and Vista. I will include the names of two files that have been updated, and you can check them.

Thanks.
