This whole shadow copy is really frustrating. Basically, i need the main file (the real one) to be updated with the correct date setting, and the shadow should be the same. I am getting that now, but for some reason some of the files work and others don't.. the one that doesn't is one that is fine, as far as i can tell.
Having so many files makes things extremely confusing. This whole patch annoys me because it's in my nature to want to control it and see how it is progressing and i am not in control.. well i thought i was with my version of MUP09.
I want to make a complete patch rather than have a mishmash of files from 20 different modders which are disjounted to say the least. Vista just makes things 10 times worse. Vista makes me feel like i'm retarded when i can't get some simple computer basics to work.
Enjay.. basically i have just taken the files from the zip i uploaded for MUP09 and am updating the graphics all over again. I have tested some with dady11, and for some reason Dax minikit stays the same, it is not overwriting.. that's on XP. My Dax minikit file is updated by date on 22 Feb, so you should get the same.
I have done nearly half of the files i need to update, and then the plan is to copy them to a new folder, thereby making every file newly created, without overwritting. Then i can zip up that file and all should be ok. That's how i do individual files usually.. so just putting them in a zip should not alter that.
The key is the importing. By importing and then not creating a new file (by copying) the file is ok itself, but it doesn't save the modified date. Therefore, the computer reads it as it was before, i.e shadow copy. The shadow copy comes with the with the file and should only cause an issue if the real file and the shadow have different dates. That is what i am doing now, i am updating and then copying to a new folder, so shadow copies are the same.
I don't know how good vista files are backward compatibility wise with XP. So far it seems hit and miss. The whole editing of the files is very technical and confusing in any case.
Enjay.. i will email you a small selection of files that i have updated, therefore they should appear updated on your XP and Vista. I will include the names of two files that have been updated, and you can check them.
Thanks.
