LV= Cup 2016/17

I think i read somewhere that Evans made 6 turnovers today.

I didn't see last night's game, but Evans has been genuinely excellent every time I have seen him. In the U20 World Cup he ran some very good support lines in attack as well as being really disruptive at the breakdown.

i hope he starts seeing some decent game time soon. If he can get 10-15 games under his belt, I'd like to see him get a chance with England on the Argentina tour.

Evans was excellent, got a bloody easy ride from Bath's forwards at the breakdown though

Harsh yellow for Luamanu... been penalised for tackling hard there, I think.

Was an enormous tackle though, definitely not high though, IMO.

Edit: sounds like Mapletoft agrees with me.

I think that decision was based on the outcome rather than the tackle, which is odd as the harlequins player earlier was taken off with a hia aswell..

Personally I like the LV Cup, but it's so under the radar that it's bizarrely hard to find coverage, highlights or even results ...

I've seen the results, but I'd like to know who stood out?

By all accounts Evans, the Curry brothers and Zach Mercer really shone, but apart from that, I've seen/heard little. Can anyone shed any light on the likes of Isiekwe?

Underhill is on the bench for Ospreys.

Any other players to look out for this round?

Bristol side to (try to) get the first win of the season

15. Jack Wallace
14. Tom Varndell
13. Jason Woodward (debut)
12. Will Hurrell
11. Jack Tovey
10. Billy Searle
9. Rhodri Williams

1. Kyle Traynor
2. Rob Hawkins
3. Jamal Ford-Robinson
4. Ian Evans
5. Mark Sorenson
6. Mitch Eadie
7. Nick Fenton-Wells
8. Jordan Crane (c)

Replacements: 16. Marc Jones, 17. Soane Tonga'uiha, 18. James Hall, 19. James Phillips, 20. Nick Koster, 21. Will Cliff, 22. Adrian Jarvis, 23. Luke Arscott.

Interesting to see what Woodward can offer, heard good things about him. Tovey on the wing is a risk but in this cup we can make those risks, great to see Marc Jones back, we;ve missed him badly.

Jonesy :(
Hope he comes home next season

Our lot:
Sale Sharks: 15. Tom Arscott, 14. Charlie Ingall, 13. Sam Bedlow, 12. Johnny Leota, 11. Nick Scott, 10. Dan Mugford, 9. James Mitchell, 1. James Flynn, 2. Rob Webber, 3. Halani Aulika, 4. George Nott, 5. Lou Reed, 6. Ben Curry, 7. Tom Curry, 8. Laurence Pearce

Replacements: 16. Curtis Langdon, 17. Jake Pope, 18. Ciaran Parker, 19. TJ Ioane, 20. David Seymour, 21. Peter Stringer, 22. Sam Tuitupou, 23. Josh Charnley

Good to see a few more players returning from injury.
Be interesting to see how Nott handles senior rugby in the 2nd row, he still looks a bit small for it, I'd have him at flanker for the time being.
Great to see the curry brothers there again,
Big chance for Mitchell to show he can cut it,
Charnley in line for some more game time

I hope not, Jones has been great for us when he was fit last season. If theres a side to play when youre needing a confidence booster in getting the feel of being a winger in Union, its us and our defence

Does anyone know that when Bath play Scarlets (formerly Llanelli) they still play for a rag doll that's tied to one of the posts?

Yeah Im sure they do, someone tweeted that it was in place earlier on today

That was dire.

Curry's look good (might be a citing for a headbutt on the way though...).

For reals?
There was no contact with the head, it was a vaguely reckless ruck entry with the shoulder, pedantically a penalty but it happens multiple times a game. Crane was just embarrassed he got walked back by an 18yr old when he tried to push him afterwards.

Nah... when they replayed it they cut out just before he actually tried to headbutt him, and only showed the rucking... his headbutt made impact with the chest.

Just watched the Exeter v Blues game. But one sided, especially in the close contact. Apart from 20 minutes or so in the second half when Exeter went to sleep.

Impressed by the Simmonds brothers, especially Sam the back row 7. If his development and opportunity keep on the same path, he could well be a name to add to growing list of young hopes for a international English 7.

Dreams and optimism the food of all hopeful fans...
