Youngs should get a long ban for those two punches and that knee. Pity he's a Leicester player so he'll only got a slap on the wrist. Im pretty sure you should get an instant yellow for punching as well!

The "punches" were hardly anything to write home about, but that knee if it was anywhere near the face will be worthy of a long ban. Seeing the replay i don't think it was in contact with the lads face, looked lower down, but saying that a knee to the chest could equally be dangerous.

I'm surprised he didn't get a yellow the assistant was right over them both.

SelimNiai - The Irish number 8 was on the floor holding Ben Youngs legs preventing him moving to the next ruck, Youngs lost his cool, appeared to drop a knee somewhere on the body and gave him a couple of slaps. The assistant ref was right over them and I htought Youngs would have got a yellow when the ref went over, but it was just a penalty.

No doubt a citing will follow, rightfully so

Yup, any other team and he'd be in the bin.
Hopefully he gets cited, the fool.
The knee is the worst part.

Allinson having a good game for Not nots, TOL will have his work cut out to get a starting spot.

they've shown it again from another angle and it looks like the knee went into the chest. Both punches missed....how the hell do you miss someone on the floor?

would be good for England as well if that were to happen ...

stupid how he celebrated his try against Ireland as if he'd won the World Cup, he sulks like a 16 year old and doesn't seem to realise that he has been playing woefully of late

If he gets cited, I bet anything the ban is 1-2 weeks only. Sodding joke how weak the RFU are to their friends (Leicester, B**h, etc)

If he gets cited he'll probably get a couple of weeks, and be back in time for the playoffs (or at very worst, the England tour in the summer)

Great try by Homer, and cheeky backflip afterwards :p

the worst bit (for England) is that Louis Deacon was laughably continually selected over the past years

he's a decent club player and has won 29 caps just because of the team he plays for

I bet if you were to swap Dean Schofield (another decent club player) into the Leicester team and Deacon into the Sale team, Schofield would have won 29 caps and Deacon just 2 (in a weakened team vs SA in 07)

Very good game, good advert for the league. Such an unfair ending to concede the try at the end but Irish-ish needed to fling it around.

Youngs has been cited.
Considering he's a) in the EPS and b) a Tigers player, he'll get about 2 weeks

Tigers have suspended him for a week, so they'll probably just leave it at that now...

Would you have given him more?

I can't see any more being particularly appropriate considering his clean record, the clear provocation, and the fairly low-level nature of the offences.

Tbh, I wouldn't mind a ruling that states should there be a clear instance of provocation from the assaulted player in the hearing, that is clearly against sportsmanlike conduct, they get a week as well. All this pulling back, hair ruffling et al is getting on my nerves.

However, we haven't touched the most important fact yet -

The man hearing this is Wade Dooley.

That's what's important. And hilarious.

I think 4 weeks would be fair - I don't like the whole "We'll give you 4 weeks....but take a few off cause you're a lovely chap". 4 is 4, 16 is 16 etc.etc.

I can't think of a better citing commissioner than Dooley - if anyone's going to spot a sly punch it's going to be a guy who was giving them out most of his career/knows what to look for :p

It's a splendid example of poacher turned gamekeeper isn't it?

While I sorta agree with you on the reduction issue, it is the standard by now, and it's only fair to judge him based on that imo...

Agreed.

Here's the incident:

Tigers fans are still maintaining he did nothing wrong, and it should've been yellow cards for both Gibson and Allinson instead.
I saw one say that he didn't knee, he just fell over, and he punched the ground by his head to scare him...
