Italy v Scotland

I'm pleased for the Italians, if we do have to lose Italy are my preferred choice to lose to.

Hopefully this means the end of Frank Hadden.

Well, it was about damn time..

Well done Italy. Mallet, Marcato at fly-half please. Also get rid of Mirco Bergamasco, he doesn't convince as an inside centre. He only provides the crashball option, which means if Italy want to go wide, they automatically have to play a missed pass, or switch to a second line of attack, which they have constantly done throughout the tournament. The pack was once again, rock solid.

So, switch Masi to IC, Marcato to FH, and teach Canale how to catch. Grand slam next year, anyone? :p

Well done Italy.

Although I was cringing most of the way through the game due to the horrific mistake's both sides were making.

Dont know what your on about, "horrific" mistakes implies dropping the ball over the line etc..

To be honest what would you expect in this game, i thought there was some good quality attacking play from Scotland especially from Mike Blair who once again proved he is the best half back in the Northern Hemisphere.

I love it when Italy win - so much passion.

Two points:

1. I know Bergamasco has a reputation, but for every good thing Parisse did today old Mauro provided an equal and opposite reaction. He's strong but dumb, and I think that's why Italy can't keep a flow to their game out wide. It would also help if Mallett played his best half backs from the START of the game.

2. A bit of rhyming slang: Dan Parks - feed him to the sharks. Unbelievable that one of the best outhalfs in the world keeps getting shunted to the wing for lack of cover. Patterson is a classic Scots player.

Ok fair point, 'horrific' was a bit harsh so I take that back.

But still the mistakes such as knock-ons/AWOL passes/misplaced kicks/etc that is what I meant.

Dam the one match i missed this six natoins has to be this one does any one know a site other than that bbc thing not availible in ireland were i can wacth this

There really has to be some reason why Parks keeps getting a game. Controversial pictures of Frank Hadden in an uncompromising position with which to blackmail the boss per-chance?

Most of the terrible play came from Parks and Masi, where has Pez gone these days? he atleast offered a solid kicking game.

Masi played one of the most terrible games i have ever seen from a first five. Surely Italy can do better in that department, Marcato maybe? He was impessive as was Robertson.

Well I said it last week, and I'll say it again this week.

Dan Park is ****. How anyone can defend him is beyond me. He's a decent enough fly-half for Glasgow, but they're not exactly setting the heather alight are they? He's a one trick pony, he misses tackles, doesn't show much by way of creativity and is so easy to read. Give Godman a chance, he's been great for us this season and I really think he should go on tour to Argentina. I really thought Ben Cairns would have got a chance in the 22, he's a FB, Centre and Wing, so plenty cover and it would have kept Paterson at 10.

Parks, go back to the land of poverty and bloody stay there.

My god, when did Pez ever offer a solid kicking game?! He was as nervous as a mouse! Never had the temperament for the international game.

Best develop Marcato for the fly-half role and put Bortolussi back at Fly Half...

As for Parks, like I keep saying, he is the relic of the abortive fiasco that was Matt Williams' reign at the helm of Scotland. Williams put Parks there because he wanted a conservative guy at stand off to complement his highly conservative game plan because, lets be frank, he didn't think all that much of the Scotland team old or new.

Williams claims that his 'reforms' helped Scotland to their impressive run of performances in 2005-7. Thats rubbish. If anything, its his endemic lack of trust and conservative nature fueled by his view that Scotland just can't cut it which created the embryos of problems which now dog Scotland today. In short, Williams f***ed up Scotland during his reign and I don't care what he did at Leinster beforehand.

Masi simply isnt a 10... we ca not continue to play him here are this game.

I would play Masi at 12. Mi. Bergamasco at 13. Canale at 15 and Marcato at 10... we would be so much more solid like this. I would also start Travagli. Having seen the whole tournament, he seems a better SH than Picone.

Parisse is just the ****** and great to get a win.

Parisse is simply made of cast iron win. If Italy were included in the Lions, he'd get the Number 8 jersey hands down...

Proud to read it....

Mallet's best choice has been nominate Sergio as italian captain.

Talking about the match....

We were so hungry of victory, we wanted to win at all costs. But we don't know what to do after the second phase. We'll struggling to score if we don't hire on a Back Play GURU !!!

Scotland played better than Italy but they had to deal with the italian determination to reach this consolation prize.

If that match was a withewash decider, Scotland would have been determined as Italy (like Pool C decider match in St. Etienne), Italy would have lost this match.

I want to thank all the Scottish fans & supporters that were in Rome. The Tartan Army is an important culture example for italians.

What a great day we had Saturday, an exciting match with a thrilling finale, a victory and a great third half party !!!
Everybody was drunk, dancing and playing rugby all together.

CHE BELLO IL RUGBY !!! :fb: :bonne-de: :drinks:  :bananasperm:

Back home after a great extended weekend.

I cannot recommend a trip to Rome for a 6 nations game highly enough. If you haven't done it yet, make sure you make the trip soon.

The city seemed to embrace us visiting Scots and inside the stadium the Italian crowd were magnificent in their display of passion - the singing of the Italian anthem was worth the entrance fee alone. The cheering from the Italian crowd in the final 5 minutes was defeaning.

So if you're wondering where to spend your hard-earned cash for 6 Nations game, choose Rome - comfortably the most enjoyable away trip I've spent.

The magic atmosphere, there was at Flaminio and around the stadium saturday, was really great.
I was there, I enjoyed the game (of course) and the the party too.
The Tartan Army added something special to the eternal city atmosphere with their spirit and their happyness (also after the match), and most of all they gave us a special soundtrack made of houndred bagpipes. Amazing !!!

After the match, a guy wearing an italian jersey came close to me and he told me: "Bella Match, Bravi Italia!"
He was a young scot supporter also wearing a coloured kilt, but in the middle of the crowded third time village I couldn't see his down body....
Then I told him: "Thanks Mate, c'mon let's go out on the ****...I pay !!!

We had great moments, italians and scots all together, that's why Rugby is so magic !!!

 :bravo: :D
