Italy v Scotland

Yeah thought Thomson was decent on Saturday. Perhaps not as dynamic in the loose as Ford but his throwing seemed more stable so a good oppurtunity for him.

Danielli looked good against Wales when he came on, so I think it's fair he gets another crack at it.

Glad Paterson remains at 10, he's been settling into the role nicely and I really think in the backs is where we'll take Italy.

Danielli has also been playing well for Ulster apparently...

...well, thats by Ulsters standards this season i suppose!

Aye, well I'd look like a good winger for Ulster this season...

and i'm a bloody hooker!

Same team as against France

ITALIA
15 Andrea MARCATO (Benetton Treviso, 6 caps)
14 Kaine ROBERTSON (Montepaschi Viadana, 29 caps)
13 Gonzalo CANALE (Clermont-Auvergne, 40 caps)
12 Mirco BERGAMASCO (Stade Francais, 51 caps)
11 Ezio GALON (Overmach Cariparma, 18 caps)
10 Andrea MASI (Biarritz Olympique, 39 caps)
9 Simon PICONE (Benetton Treviso, 14 caps)
8 Sergio PARISSE (Stade Francais, 52 caps) â€" capitano
7 Alessandro ZANNI (Cammi Calvisano, 21 caps)
6 Josh SOLE (Montepaschi Viadana, 27 caps)
5 Marco BORTOLAMI (Gloucester RFC, 66 caps)
4 Carlo Antonio DEL FAVA (Ulster, 27 caps)
3 Martin CASTROGIOVANNI (Leicester Tigers, 53 caps)
2 Leonardo GHIRALDINI (Cammi Calvisano, 10 caps)
1 Andrea LO CICERO (Racing Metro Paris, 75 caps)

a disposizione
16 Fabio ONGARO (Saracens, 52 caps)
17 Salvatore PERUGINI (Stade Toulousain, 51 caps)
18 Carlos NIETO (Gloucester RFC, 25 caps)
19 Jaco ERASMUS (Montepaschi Viadana, 1 cap)
20 Pietro TRAVAGLI (Overmach Cariparma, 6 caps)
21 Enrico PATRIZIO (Carrera Petrarca Padova, 2 cap)
22 Alberto SGARBI (Benetton Treviso, 2 caps)

Same tactics again and I suppose at least we will see Masi for this tournament. There is no doubt the team as a whole has come on pretty well and can now plya a bit of rugby, the only problem is finalising the plays and being confident enough to do so... once Mallet trains this into them we will be a much better team for sure. Besides, our team did well v France so hopefully it can beat Scotland.

Italy don't have offensive talent in the backs

They are solid but without fantasy

I thought Canale would be dropped. Knocked it on against Wales and France when all he had to do was touch it down.

We have 3 very good centres and all of them are on the pitch. We have some other young players too, but not ready for this stage.

Walkers out, so Henderson and Cairns called up.

Hopefully that means Webbo will move out to the wing, with either of the 2 coming in a centre. (and hopefully the other taking a forwards place on the bench)

Interestingly Barclay has also been called up. An unspoken injury perhaps, or a late change in gameplan from funtime frank?

Italy do have the talent in the backs, but we need someone who can let them loose. Andrea Masi has began to get the hang of fly-half and has made some of the back-line produce some nice moves, and if the ball had went to hand Italy could have won two of their matches. As much as I like Masi, in my opinion, Andrea Marcato should be in the 10 position because he is the future of Italian rugby.

Massi is a very good inside center but his kicking is letting him down.

I do not think he will ever be a good flyhalf because of that.

But with the increasing number of rugby players in Italy (42 registered male players), it is just a matter of time before they start to produce a quality halfback.

In light of recent changes, I think it is best for all involved if the backline runs thus;

10. Paterson - fantastic player, better 10 and he is 14
11. Webster
12. Henderson
13. Morrison
14. Danielli
15. Southwell

Replacements

20. Parks
21. Lawson
22. Cairns.

Ben Cairns is the rugby equivalent to stem cell research, proven to be effective but is not used to it's full potential, 'god' only knows why.

Parks returns for Italy encounter

Dan Parks returns at stand-off for Scotland's final RBS Six Nations match in Italy following Nikki Walker's withdrawal with an ankle injury.

Coach Frank Hadden has decided to move Chris Paterson, who started at 10 against Ireland and England, to wing.

Centre Andrew Henderson comes onto the bench, while John Barclay and Ben Cairns also travelled to Rome.

...

[/b]

Frank Hadden must hate Paterson.

I hope to see a very exciting match.
In 7 hours from now i'll be on a plane flying to Rome.
I'm a bit nervous because i want Italy to win but i know Scotland is a good challenger...

i look forward to have a big party with all the supporters, scottish and italians, at the "terzo tempo village", and then a great ruby match !!!

May the best one win !!!

Scotland.

Italy.

It's the Wooden Spoon Derby!

Since the championship expanded to six teams in 2000, Scotland's cumulative away record is 3-19. However, 2 of those are in Rome, so they stand a shot.

I reckon Scotland will edge this one in a low scoring encounter. Italy don't have an outhalf or a a backline to challenge whereas Scotland can use Parks to play territory and let Paterson kick them past the Italians

Italians to win by 6.

Nigel Owens needs to understand that The Italian props are going straight down not the Scottish!
