Irish Summer Tests

So this isn't a good time to point out that Hugh Farrelly reckons O'Brien and Healy are now doubts as well?

No it really isn't. If that's the case things are starting to look dire.

If all of the doubtful players miss the tour that means the injury list would be Healy, O'Connell, Ferris, O'Brien, Boss, Bowe, Fitzgerald. There's half a pack in there. *Sigh*.

No, no it's not. Happened last time we toured as well. If these are true and I pray to God they aren't we're looking at:

1. Court
2. Best
3. Ross
4. O'Callaghan
5. Ryan
6. O'Mahony
7. Henry
8. Heaslip
9. Reddan
10. Sexton
11. Earls
12. D'arcy
13. O'Driscoll
14. Trimble
15. Kearney

16. Cronin
17. Fitzpatrick/probably Loughney
18. Tuohy
19. Muldoon
20. Murray
21. O'Gara
22. McFadden

whatever chance we had is fading fast and as another injury or two are likely we are in a bad position.

You are an incredibly cruel person Peat.

Can't really argue with that.

In fairness, we're talking doubts and not definites, and Hugh Farrelly's mouth spouts more fecal matter than an Indian sewer. You could be fine yet.

Yeah Farrelly's pretty desperate sometimes hope to God he's wrong.

I'd rather have players that are doubts miss the tour anyway. I'd play one test with a full strength team and then mix it up. I cetainly would not have any player playing all three tests and player such as Ferris who are injury prone should only play one test both in order to protect him and to improve the quality of our depth and and experience of our replacements. Ross is also someone who needs to be rested, he is pivotal and lets face it a tour to NZ at his age isn't exactly going to improve him any great deal. Saying that I don't think he's ever played New Zealand and without him we'd have no chance of winning. I'd give him one game and that's enough.

Mike Ross says he should be able to last longer then most people because he hasn't had to suffer as many pre-seasons.

I just think that a Heineken Cup Final, a Rabo Pro 12 Final and 3 All Black tests within the space of less than 3 months is too much for anyone let alone a 32 year prop who we have relied on so much this season. Basically every game he plays puts that extra bit of strain on his body, increasing the likely hood of injury..... I'm not saying these games aren't important but in reality we need to pin point a game which were really going to target with a first choice team.

5 matches in three months isn't that bad even if they are such hard matches. He can at least manage 2 of the tests.

But it's actually 5 matches in 6 weeks not 3 months. These matches are also probably the the highest intensity and most physical of the entire season (maybe bar the 6N). I we think that Mike Ross or any other player for that matter should be put through that because we don't have appropriate replacements, than not only are we kidding our selves but we're putting ourselves in a bad position.

Ferris is gone.

Bad news obviously but not the worst we could get. Hopefully Deccie will bring in someone like Dominic Ryan or Rhys Ruddock to get some International experience which will hopefully allow them to push for a starting spot at Leinster and then Ireland, they're the best young backrows at the moment and it will be a great experience.

Coughlan will get called up because he's the future...

Nah Muldoon is the most likely then Jennings also Ruddock is injured.

We need him so it's a catch 22 if we want to be competitive we play him if we want to save him to be competitive elsewhere we don't. I'm certain he can last 2 tests preferably the first and third. Fitzpatrick needs to be tested any way. Copied the 5 in 3 months off you wasn't thinking at the time.

Deccie will be fine as the excuse of key players injured is an excuse that is valid for the tour.
