Ireland v South Africa

Both of you are making the point I was trying, badly, to make. Best isn't the form hooker but he is the most experienced. All things being equal I'd go for Cronin with Varley on the bench but Best brings other qualities to the table which may be required.

Just a couple of hours left until we will see the New Landsdowne Road! I can remember one of the biggest disappointments in my life when it comes to sports. Jason McAteer scored the 1-0 against Holland during the 2002 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers which made us (Holland) miss the first big tournament since 1986.

I hope to see a thrilling match with a lot of action and of course a beatdown for those limerick-loving Irish ;)

Posted something in the wrong topic hehe

Stegmann, Steyn, Basson, and Aplon is gonna be great I just know it!

It's a shame Mvovo doesn't get a chance in the starting line up but hopefully Basson will have a blast. Habana will have to get out of his slump.

Aplon as a fullback is a delight compared to Kirchner. JdV together with that dreadful Kirchner as the centres and Ruan Pienaar as scrumhalf!!! That is simply amazing!

Very nice gesture by the South Africans to play in the white jersey so the Irish can use their own green kits for the openingmatch of the New Landsdowne Road (I just refuse to call it Aviva Stadium)

That was a very disappointing national anthem with that carnival orchestra there. Man o man.

Man o man. 38th consecutive penalty scored by Steyn. 0-3 after 5 minutes. Let's see what the Irish can do with the line-outs and the attacks

It's a shame they say Basson is a Bulls-winger when he only played for Griquas and he is only moving there the end of the year
