top try scorer in one match for many years was brian robinson with 4 tries against Japan..he's always my uncle:)[/b]

that was Zimbabwe.

also my uncle*

and woops..

yeah that's the first rugby match I have actual memories of watching, deluded myself into thinking we must win the world cup if we score 55 points in a game. Robinson was an underrated player for me, on fire in that match but had a huge game when we beat England in 93, unlucky not to get a Lions call that year.

yeah. he was unfortunate to get injured badly and then just retired from the game..before it went fully pro, which was unfortunate

he got 25 caps for ireland..which isn't too bad really:)

I was at Lansdown rd in 93 and the backrow included Robinson,Phil Matthews and the guy from Munster with the huge forehead? Cant remember his name but he went on the Lions tour and didnt really feature. Anyway Robinson was a really mobile and committed forward, quite a player.

none of that backrow went on the Lions tour, Matthews wasn't playing either, was O'Hara, McBride and Robinson. Only Galwey and Popplewell went on the Lions tour with Richard Wallace called up during the tour. Only Popplewell played in the tests.

Buckley included, Ross dropped and O'Kelly goes from benching against England to not in the squad! Did he get injured against Llanelli?

harsh on Ross considering how well he played in the A match, well what I saw of it anyway. Did Buckley put in an outstanding performance on Saturday?

not sure about O'Kelly, he played the 80 minutes so I assume he's just been dropped.

Buckly was his usual self. a beast carrying ball and at the breakdown . AND was barely able to get parity with a loosehead getting his debut. ross should be in.

agree that ross should be in the squad

aslo i think its time to say good bye to o kelly

Buckley was an animal in the loose, a nuisance at the breakdown. From my North terrace view I couldn't see much of his scrummaging, looked solid when he felt like binding though. Kidney was in the stand so I imagine he was impressed. Earls looked dangerous all the time, while he didn't have to work very hard for his try he was ever present in defence including a few big hits, off the bench he offers more than Murphy and as I said earlier DK had a nice view of all this.

Fair Play to Mal, 92 caps is some achievement but It is time to move on. Bob Casey would be a good choice for the 18 jersey seeing as he knows Kennedy well and without Kennedy England don't have a lineout it seems. Have a feeling Alan Quinlan will get it though.

that's just daft picking Quinlan as a sub lock considering the options he has, he hasn't picked players out of position so far so why would he start now?

Quinny was replacement lock against Canada and played 80 mins in the row on Saturday. stranger things have happened.

true but he also picked other players out of position as well and it clearly didn't work, why go back to a losing strategy now.

Fair enough dropping O'Kelly but for Mick O'Driscoll, is this the mother of all **** takes.

Yes. I think so. Where're Bob and Caldy?

Thought Earlsy would be in for Murpheeee.

would have thought Casey would be a shoe in, especially considering how he played in the A game, O'Driscoll's done nothing all season but warm the bench, at least he's used to it but still not the option you want coming on if something happens to POC or DOC.

Agreed. Frankly I'd rather have Donnocha Ryan coming odd the bench than Mick O'D. Bob Casey seemed an obious choice though.
