Ireland under 20s 6 Nations thread

5-3 to Ireland. Should be 25-3. Poor enough game.

Impressed with Hanrahan, Henderson, the backrow as a whole and McCall's scrummaging. Unimpressed with Daly, Reilly's scrummaging, the lineout and Marmion who plays like an inferior version of Tomas O'Leary. Layden and Jackson have mixed the good with the bad.

Tactic for the second half - give the ball to Hanrahan.

Is it bad that I was going to say Marmion's been the best Irish scrum-half I've seen in three years of underage rugby, but don't disagree with you?

This is some Irish pack. Just think, Furlong's still to come back...

Early days but it looks like there could be a few pros in that bunch. McCall is definitely worth looking at since Ireland are generally lacking in decent 1s and 3s. Henderson looks a good carrier and with some beef on his frame should go further - it's not as though Ulster are overstocked with locks. Coneelly looks much better than last season. Gilsenan has been hyped since he's 15 and on the evidence of his appearance today and for the Leinster A team on the occasions I've seen him, he's not disappointing. Conan reminds me a lot of Paddy Butler from a couple of years ago. He's excellent in open space.

Yeah, Coghlan Murray's a good player. Haven't seen him do much tonight though. Caught meningitis last year so it's a miracle that he's back playing rugby so soon.

Dire game.

5-6. Jackson has a chance to kick Ireland back into the lead. He misses again.

Ireland get quick ball and attack on the 22. Jackson kicks it away. FFS.

Drop goal by Jackson. About time he nailed a kick.

Been impressed by Leighton and McGrath has been a big improvement on Marmion.

At least Jackson can kick well enough from hand.
