Ireland Summer Tour NZ 2022

Jimmy is a nailed on starter for Leinster, Larmour has a lot of work to do to get him back.
Will he be a starter when everyone is fit?
Don't get me wrong fully deserves to tour and has incredible form.
Was just an observation I mentioned even excluding JOB we have a lot that are selected yet aren't as highly rated by coaches who see them more frequent.

Yeah I think Lowe, Jimmy, Keenan is the back three of choice right now. Larmour next in line.

Think you're letting your JOB love cloud your view. Larmour was firmly ahead before and flying before getting injured. Since then JOB came in and is playing very well but probably isn't as natural a winger, especially at 14. I would say it's 50/50 for next season but historically they've backed Larmour when fully fit.

'We play our own way' - Farrell backs Ireland's game-plan to succeed in New Zealand https://the42.ie/5790451

So Baloucoune was with the squad yesterday waiting on his scan results. Only 4-6 weeks injury but long enough to keep him out.

I'm pretty happy to trust Farrell bringing in inexperienced guys or lads not starting for their provinces for the most part. I think his and his team's talent ID is the best in the country, he brought JGP in as a starter when he couldn't get ahead of McGrath at Leinster, threw Keenan into the team when he was still breaking into Leinster and picked Mack Hansen in out of the blue also.

I'd love to have seen him do it with Doak over Murray who I don't expect improvement from but that's fairly minor gripe.

First Maori game is on Wednesday. Be interesting to see what approach we see in the team selection. I'd imagine we'll see a number of Munster players since it's a good while since they've played a game. Not what I would pick but, expecting something like:

1. Loughman
2. Herring
3. Bealham
4. Beirne
5. McCarthy
6. O'Mahony (c)
7. Timoney
8. Coombes
9. Murray
10. Carbery
11. Larmour
12. Aki
13. Hume
14. Earls
15. Lowry

16. Heffernan
17. Healy
18. O'Toole
19. Treadwell
20. Prendergast
21. Casey
22. Byrne
23. O'Brien

Henderson and Herring have knocks and will be assessed. Nia Scannell joins the squad

Im not too sure, Schmidt cant be expected to come in on a weeks notice and make a difference. We got smashed in our first test v Aus with Schmidt as coach. Also NZ have lost Havilli and Goodhue. Mack Hansen also has covid.
Yeah, it'll either have no effect or a disruptive one, I just respect the man so much!

Made it more realistic
Will let you know what it's like to play in the QF next year, not looking likely for your lads right now.

What sort of level should we expect here?

Loughman and O'Toole on press duty, so there's an idea of the front row. Heffernan hooking with them in the clips too. Hardly too surprising I suppose.

Prendergast also visible in the video running with the matchday team
