IRB World Rankings as of 21st of March 2011

I think it's a relatively fair system in that you cant lose points if you're not playing, and that it reflects consistence of performance, rather than who won a particular tournament. Teams actually get a real opportunity to improve their ranking during the world cup, where the points on offer per match, are doubled. I guess the down side is that if you get to play the top ranked teams only once a year, then your opportunity to attain the top ranking is limiited

If the Rankings were like Eurovision, SA would be 5th/6th. They should have the places decided by points and a Rugby jury. We all know SA are only 3rd because of 07. But its easy for someone else to go 3rd. Ireland would have overtaked Aussies in 09 if they had got a drop goal in that 20 - 20 game

But dont expect a change in the warm up games for the wc as Ireland are still 4 points behind SA
