Don't know if I'd have said he was the best player through out the year, but I'd certainly see why he has been the best player throughout the final stages of the RWC (which is where the most points are awarded). Can't complain too much about the decission, it wouldn't have been my choice, but I think he's certainly earned it as he's been consistently good (which is rare for a Frenchman).
80% of the decision is made based on the World Cup, and the final stages (QF,SF etc) have greater weighting than the earlier stages, so by that criteria, you can understand why Dusuatoir is the winner.
Hadn't seen too much of him before the World Cup, but I was mightily impressed by his recent performances. Seems to have that quiet dignity that great captains often possess also. Yep, no complaints about the award.
don't get me wrong Thierry Dusautoir is a brilliant player but I think it was heavily based on his 2nd performance against New Zealand in the grand final,I heavily agree with nick but it's hard to pick just one player that was a stand out.
