Heyneke Meyer announces first Bok training group for 2013

Well, I think the 9/10 combination is the vital part in a rugby team. It's the link between the forwards and the backs. Every attack following a ruck starts with the 9/10 combination.

We are approaching the start of Meyer's second year in charge. If he keeps his word, this year, the focus will be on the future. It shows with guys like du Toit and Ebersohn being called up. I still don't understand how he can ignore a pure fetcher like Brussow when he wants to focus on the breakdown.

unless he has a whole new interpretation that wants to implement? he has been busy by the sounds of that article.

the other big article on news24 is of PSdT (which shouldn't be mistaken for PTSD). By the sounds of the news conference we will have a 21 and a 20 year lock pair against Italy in Etzebeth and PSdT.

On supersport blitz they showed glimpses of the bok squad training, it was great to see Bismark having a run and not looking in pain... hopefully he will be back in time...

Bismarck is vital to both the Sharks and Springboks. The lock combination of Ysterbeth and PTSD is amazing! The 2015 Bok team is slowly getting there. I would really like to see an Emerging Springboks team this summer to play some matches as well. Maybe in the near future, a team like that can be assembled since it will give those players a stage to show what they can do. Have them play Pampas XV or the NZ Maori's.

Don't think it's been mentined here but is there a possibility le Roux was left out because he's going to Leinster?

Don't worry if he does go it won't be as the project player anyway. We got another Saffa for that...

I've heard that as well but I think there's a lot less to that rumour than le Roux or at least I hope there is.

Kirchner would do well in the soggy or frozen pitches. Good kicking and pretty solid under the highball.
Willie, on the other hand, would be wasted for most of the season.

The same way Nacewa, BO'D, Fitzgerald etc. are wasted? Nah le Roux would be good Kirchener wouldn't be great I think doesn't suit our gameplan also as he'd be replacing Nacewa he'd need versatility something le Roux has in abundance. We don't need a back up fullback we need a utility back with a focus on the backthree.

I think Willies would be an excellent signing for the Ospreys as well. They desperately need back three cover. Riaan Viljoen or Andries Coetzee would also be decent options. Depending on CC form they could also consider Nico Scheepers.

Anybody hear Meyer's comments on focussing on the breakdown? No Brussow though... Unbelieveable.

No thanks. There is literally no back three behind the first choice, but I'd rather just get a cheap Tier 2/Principality Premiership/Championship winger as cover instead of wasting budget on expensive reserves on the luxury position of wing. I don't know why the coaches haven't signed someone like Lee Rees or somebody as a reserve (or just keep Prydie as a back up back three) who could cover for injuries, instead they have just picked scrum halves all over the backline.

The 23 with something like four scrumhalves was excellent. You can put Nipper back at fullback for added fun!

The reason why Brussouw wasn't part of the group:

“The Springbok management has told me what I need to work on, they said my penalty count stands against me,” said Brüssow.

I don't know why Meyer ignores Brussow he was quality in 2009 outplaying McCaw that year. I have a feeling it's because he doesn't like picking forwards under 6 ft. Either that or him playing for the Cheethas might not help either instead of one of the big 3.

He didn't ignore him... Brussouw now knows what he has to do to improve and the article explains why he wasn't picked for the training group, and also Brussouw admitted his problem, even if it's not necessarily his fault.

In 2009 he had the best ruck cleaner in business Bakkies Botha and the Terminator Burger who ruffed up the Kiwi's upfront

He must have Welsh ancestry.
