Heineken Cup 1/4F - Ulster v Saracens

If the arm is out for us in midfield, and there is no advantage, how comes we end up with a penalty by the sideline?

Tbh I get that it was a red but I don't agree with the rule. It's not like a tackle situation where the player has the ball and therefore the tackler is responsible for bringing him back to earth. In a kick situation the ball is free for all and their safety should be their own responsibility. If you don't want to take the chance of possibly colliding dangerously in the air then don't jump. Payne had his eyes on the ball arms reached up. I don't see how the other player should be his responsibility as his focus is the ball.
Because he isn't going up to challenge the ball he is running, and if you don't have the rule then people will take out players in the air and necks will get broken.

If you don't think the safety of your fellow players is as much your responsibility as theirs then you have absolutely no business on the field.

Still a chance but the best player on the pitch (Pienaar) going off is a huge blow. Paddy Jackson is not reliable. With all these advantages a good team would win easily. Saracens are very ordinary.

So to compete you must jump?
No but you can't tackle a player in the air, which is the rule he broke.

Also how did he not see the knock -on ?

When I'm sprinting down field in chase of the ball, that is all I'm thinking about, the ball; however, I'm aware of the rule and wouldn't object if I was red carded for an unfortunate collision.

Shocking performance from Owen.

Edit: Why didn't Farrell go himself then?

****ing amazing defense. That is unbelievable commitment. Some hits have been huge.

This is absolutely mad stuff. Was 14 vs 13 there.

And Trimbles off...hopefully Gilroy from around November last year comes on.

How can you tell from that angle?

Also anyone else but him.

Oh look at that Farrell scored.

That Paddy Jackson miss earlier is looking quite important now. Although if Owen Farrell had taken his points Saracens would be out of sight, so it's something of a mute point.

Paddy scores

"So theres a chance" as Jim Carrey would say....

Stupid penalties and missed kicks has kept Ulster in this
If we get to the semi's we will get ****ed

3 penalties in a few minutes, surely a yellow soon? 12-7 to Saracens in terms of penalties..
