Heineken Cup 1/4F - Ulster v Saracens

Whatever about which Ulster wing gets MotM, Farrell is villain of the match.

Whatever happens, fair play to Ulster. I thought the heads might drop when they went 8 points down, but they've worked themselves back into this game very well.

Can't disagree with Binny getting MOTM, Sarries really don't deserve to go through however.

Bowe had to be MOTM Vunipola played well but Bowe was crazy good.

Absolute heartbreak. For Ulster to stay that close is incredible. Saracens defending 40 phases (even if Farrell's kick should maybe possibly have been a penalty) is impressive in and of itself. Still don't think any team would be overly worried about facing them. Anyone who doesn't think Bowe should be in the conversation when talking about the best winger in the world should watch this match.

SUFTUM

Hopefully we up our game or we will lose ****ing horribly against any of the other teams.

Everything that could go wrong for Ulster did go wrong. Red card was decisive. Losing Best and especially Pienaar just added insult to injury. And still they came within a kick of winning. Even Sarries try was given without anyone having a clue whether Ashton was behind the ball. It's a bitter one for them to take.

So we play Clermont at Twickenham ... ha ha ha ha ha huuuuuuu ss****

What's a likable lad like yourself doing supporting that bunch of bellends anyway?

My local team, so I just supported them for that reason. Also I like the physicality we play with and I don't care if people think we're bellends because it's mainly the ash-splash !! I ****ing hate it also, like when he scored against Australia that length of the field try, yeah you can do it after that but I think he does it too show off now.

nonsense. Nothing justifies doing that horrible, unholy, God forsaken act of pure evil. One of the most fantastic things about him not playing for England is he'll never get to do that against France from now on.

Anyways. Nothing to say about this that isn't already implied and understood by all. Ulster were unbelievable to have made it so close. The only real lesson here that matters for the rest of the way is the Saracens look like the least threatening side left in the H Cup. They are playing Clermont at Twickenham though, and that's no easy task for any team.
If there's such a thing as a "moral victory", Ulster get it tenfold here.

Hard to tell who ****ed their team up more, Payne or Farrell. Harshesh red but you leave yourself open to it upon making one of those tackles. Had Goode got up and brushed it off it would have been a yellow methinks. Bowe's class and Jackson looked out of his depth a bit today.

I think we let Ulster in, we gave away stupid penalties, we let them in too the game and took our foot off the pedal. We thought that they where going to lie down and die.I think this will make us better, last year we beat Ulster easily and then we put in a lacklustre performance against Toulon, hopefully we realise that we aren't going to go and impose ourselves on every team. Hopefully Clermont are a typical French side and they don't travel, and we need our best performance for years.

I can quite easily see the Sarries win this next one in Twickers against the ASM...let's just wait for the thread to start though (probably by me...).

F*** why does that ball never slip out of his hand.

One day mate it might....hate the showing off even before he gets to the try line....Like I think it was Armitage in last years final,no need for it...

That's one of the harshed red cards I've seen in a while. Certainly a yellow card without a doubt, cause Payne came in late and hurt Goode, but a red I thought was a bit far fetched, cause Payne certainly didn't look like he had any serious intent on hurting Goode, if went in with that intention, yes it would have been red, but looking at the footage, he didn't, so i think it was harsh.
It's always ashamed in rugby when a player gets sent off, in terms of how it changes the balance of the game, and puts the hands of the outcome more in the 15 man team than the 14 man team. Credit to Ulster for digging in and taking it to the wire, credit to Saracens for doing enough to get the win
