Gatland in making some "unfortunate comments" shocker!

Does anyone remember when pre-lions Buildup on TRF didn't slumber into this sort of stuff?

No?

Me neither. There may have been one friendly post in Feb 2005, but that's just a rumour...

Ah... ;)

Look, I know Gatland is akin to God to you chaps, but a couple of low level Grandslams does`nt impress me I`m afraid, he`s ****ed up here not because I say so, but because it`s all over the press and respected rugby people like Bill Beaumont are saying so.
What`s a Lions Tour anyway, nothing more than a vehicle to sell SKYTV Digiboxes and for the celts to compete with teams in the SH in a way they can`t when playing for their own countries.
Yes my Welsh friend for an all too brief period you get to cheer on a side that is`nt intrinsically **** on a tour of the SH, now pipe down and enjoy it!:)

Well that was a poor effort at trolling. I'm embarrassed for you .:(

You`re right, besides there`s no need to troll when the **** poor Welsh touring record against the big three down south, needs no extra embellishment from me.

Hmm, what did Jim Telfer say again ....

Also what has the Welsh record got to do with the tour? If that's your argument then its a weak one. You could pull out any of the home nations touring record and say they are rubbish.

It's a pain when we have a few good English posters which I don't want to particular offend.

I would say the Welsh SH touring record is as pertinant as Gatland`s comments on the English 'baggage' when it comes to the upcoming Lions tour.
England`s tour record in the SH is very weak, Wales`record is pathetic......just here to put a bit of context!:)

Are you going to debate anything or just slag the Welsh off?

Well it`s hard not to!
But you`re right, the nationality of those chosen to go on a Lions tour is irrelevant, can someone now tell the 'Waikato ******' that though!

Seriously man, you were doing so well for a bit there but you had to get another dig in. I'll tell you, carry on like that and you'll **** off the wrong people and you may find yourself outta here.

And thats not a threat, nor is it based on your alliegiences, it's because you seem to be a WUM.

Troooooll in the Dungeon! I just thought you might like to know...

You have a pretty damn serious case of the selective reading there fella. Of course Gatland shouldn't be opening himself up to receive these kinds of media barrages, but it's Gatland, that's what he does and twisting words is what the media loves to do too! :p England have got a tidy shot at a grand slam, and whether they win it/the championship or not, a lot of English players are putting theirs hands up for Lions selection no matter what.
People don't half throw hissy fits when the Lions roles around...

Word of advice mate, don't wind people up for the sake of it, it's not particularly big or clever.

I just realised that the most amusing aspect of this story is that Gatland makes negative comments towards the media attention focused on English players, and then the media come out and prove him to be right. Gatland 1-0 The Media.

I am not sure I follow your logic. Gatland has generated negative media comments because of his actions. Nothing has been aimed at the England team as a negative other than what he said. All he has proven is no matter who you are if you do or say stupid things the media will be all over it. It is ok for him to generate negative media but not the English players. If anything he will regret what he said and it is certainly not Gatland 1-0 his comments have back fired. The same as the Robshaw comments before that. Since the RWC more negative media towards Gatland if anything.

Gatland has certainly made a major ricket here and potentially left himself wide open for home criticism and derision from the sometimes rabid Aussie media when it comes to his initial squad selection and perhaps his choices for the Test side when the tour begins.
In 'Lions World' selection or non-selection can be tour destroying dynamite, eg. choose the wrong Welshman and he`s biased, choose the wrong Englishman now and he`s over compensating for this week comments, this now adds unwanted extra scrutiny on his selections and it`s a problem he`s bought on himself!
No doubt he`ll be ok if the Lions start the tour well, but if they don`t...he`s toast!

and the thing is that the point off the brittish lions is to get england, scotland, wales and ireland playing together but if the team is full of english players then there would be no point the only difference it would make is a couple of players that are not english and it wouldn't really make a big effect

No here`s a chap who knows what the Lions are really all about.
