The big question is this.  Does the defending team ALWAYS turn over the ball when you're on their try line - that was fu**ing annoying last time round!! - Locks?
Pretty much yeah they do. Turnovers do seem to have some dependance of field position, in that the closer to the opposition line you are the higher it seems the chance of a turnover. [/b]
and this is the most crucial point

it made 2005 crap

have 10 mins of possession

to lose it in red zone attack

even if i used the forwards, you would lose the ball when near the try line - 1 pt to random, 0 pt to user

there is nothing new with 2006 except the pop ball, and new kicking dynamics.

thus we will need to exploit, these new adjustments to get the most out of this

again forward play will just expose the user to more risk of turnovers, when in reality using forwards SHOULD minimize the risk of a turnover....not in EA2006

Also i am starting to feel this game is going to be scripted

meaning we have 25 set plays...........which they want us to exploit

Well i like the set-play WE should NOT be confined to using the set-plays all the time, and i believe we are coz if u dont start a set-play quick enough u lose the ball at the breakdown

Set-play, tackle ruck
Set play tackle ruck
set play, tackle ruck

Seems as though they have forgotton about creative user play, with inside balls, or forward driving

Coz if we were to use forwards, i assume this means no set-plays (set-plays only using backs)

So forward drive, tackle ruck
forward drive, tackle ruck
forward drive, tackle ruck
now we enter the redzone...........and more forward play will result in a turnover, thus setplay time

yeah it sound like a reflection of real life, but i like to create my own variety, and i reckon this EA approach to encouraging set-plays ALL THE TIME, takes away the spontaneous factors of rugby..........i dont want madden

There's too many ways to lose the ball at the ruck, coz of EA programming, which results in turnovers, coz u havent utilised the EA feature....rugby should not play like that...........i should be beaten in rugby by a better opponent, with a good mix of all facets of rugby..........not beaten, by a set-play move, that the AI set an animation where my inside centre bought a dummy, and came inside, only to see the CPU auto-miss pass, to the winger, where my winger has already committed to the AI's animation of going for the intercept, and mssing leaving the CPU's winger wide open with line in front of him.

Do u wanna get beaten like Madden
or do u wanna get beaten like PES

Getting beat coz u picked the wrong defensive play, against 1 of the 24 set-play u can map, just aint Rugby video gaming...its Madden.

I'll still be getting, but not holding much hope, as the features that are new seem minimal, thus EA2005 with polished look and rosters.

Its all about the breakdown..........at the moment we watch them, not control them

im pretty sure you will be able to pass left or right from a ruck, without selecting a play ie. same as last year.

from what i gather, you choose whether you WANT to use one of your four set plays that you have selected.

yeah of course u can
so its the same as 2005 with more set-plays?
FFS

give me ruck control

Who wants to bet
Who wants to bet

Put ya money where u mouths are people - EVERYONE

I bet that in the instruction manual

EA will explain how to put men into rucks, and how to win turnovers, via MANUAL RUCKS...............literally, it will say letter for letter MANUAL RUCKS.

Total BS, and anyone that thinks otherwise - LETS BET!!!!!

Lets not forget the BS bar...............the bullshit bar above the rucks in 2005 that went left and right, for no apparant reason...........alteast put some porn action going left n right, if it doesnt effect the gameplay.........even a tennis match, i dont wanna see another bar above a ruck until it means something

Then what are you talking about here?

You can easily just pass left or right at the breakdown and play open-play, "unscripted", "un-confined", rugby.

simple as that.

You won't lose possession of the ball if you pass straight away.

ur missing my point which i am i not being very clear on

u wont be able to turnover a ruck without using the set-play

ie EA want us to use the set-plays more often than not, to produce equal possesion

simply passing it left and right, wont result in a turnover UNTIL the red-zone

thus its 2005 unless u abuse the set-plays

my point is EA have produced a system, that differs from 2005, but we wont use it (set-plays) coz we dont want scripted rugby

they have put massive emphasis on set-plays..........thus their approach to rugby is semi scripted............auto-rucks and set-plays is as scripted as it gets IMO

and EA have introduced both, and the feature for pop ball was included to give the user atleast some feel of variety....YAY (sarcasm)

actually, I don't think he did miss your pouint ak...I just think he's right.

sorry bud...

gotta be honest that's all.

I play free running nearly ALL the time in rugby 05 and rugby 06 will just be better....

also you obviously have a cob on for the game as you say:

"there is nothing new with 2006 except the pop ball, and new kicking dynamics.

come on AK

whay about

QUICK TAPS
QUICK LINE_OUTS (awesome!!)
BETTER GRAPHICS AND LIKENESSES
PLAYING VERSUS THE LIONS
HIGH TACKLE
STAR PLAYERS

Out and out ognoring of all of those NEW features means that your argument doesn't hold weight.

IT HAS BEEN STATED NUMEROUS TIMES ALSO BY PLAYERS OF RUGBY CHALLENGE 2006 THAT THE RUCKING IS LAME BUTTON MASHING....AND THAT IT IS TURNED OVER ON ATTACK ON THE LINE ALMOST EVERY TIME!!!

the irony!!

Also in rugby 05, I hardly EVER turn the ball over on attack in their 22 - you have momentum (oh and a momentum gauge which GREATLY affects play - another thing neither wcr or wcr2 have) thus you are fine - it is ACTUALLY and realistically (in terms of encouraging sensible and/or breakout rugby) that one loses the ball more often if caught in their OWN 22 too much....IT ACTUALLY STATES THIS IN THE TIPS OF THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL AS WELL - GO AHEAD AND VERIFY IF YOU WANT.

Let's plsease deal with the facts here - oh, and ALL the facts.

rugby 06 has MANY advances by all accounts and feels like an update with more added features than you seem to be able to admit.

RC2006 has no jump and spped bar - it has stagnated....it might look great in a glossy kind of way - this'll plse the kids maybe - but it doesn't fly with me.

as I say AK, good luck with the game and all, but if you deal with EVERY aspect of both games - there isn't much of a decision left to make is there?

It's EA06.

thats coz these features ADD ZERO weight to the gameplay, thus i wont talk about it coz me arguement is well weighted
Quick Taps - WOW, still wont mean crap, if no offsides are given
Quick Line-outs - Granted, good, but still, JLR had them
Better Look - Standard, no praise/talk should be given
PLAYING VERSUS THE LIONS - Oh come on now, how is that good....its good coz its been ignored in the past...so if GW Bush finds WMDs NOW, do we all apologize??
HIGH TACKLE - Admittedly forgot about this....should be good
STAR PLAYERS - pffft.......I'll believe it when i see it.....just like MANUAL RUCKS which are stated in the booklet since 2004, and they arent. (FACT)

just go look at other forums

People arent happy with the rucking.............you can proclaim the Los wealth of Knowledge..............just like Mario proclaims the head highs werent auto in RL1.....u can try and validate with ur skillset, and knowledgable descriptions, but its just not consistent with the game I am playing...similar to RL1, with Marios RL1 with no random headhighs

So we have all the new spanky polished features
Yet still auto-rucks.........or Semi-Auto (for you LOS), r3, and down d-pad guru, but still nobody can tell me what i did wrong to lose that ruck...i wasnt isolated, it was my flanker, one off the ruck, i commit 5 forwards in, yet somehow the AI got the ball...............OH THATS RIGHT....I PLAY ON HARD MODE......lottery tickets anyone???

You forgot 3D grass............thats another feature, i must buy this game for
<

Regardless i am buying both

I am ranting today, coz its going to be 2005 all over again.....auto-breakdown, and i hate autobreak down...half the reason i hate league games is that u cant get the ball for 6 tackles NORMALLY.........but its the same for EArugby..u cant get the ball until the AI kicks, or gets into ur REDZONE, or i may luckily press r3 shutting my eyes, having no idea when exaclty it works
I played 2005 the other night, WAS NOT impressed.

I guess the only thing to save this now is the proper use of fend sidestep, and kicking game..............**** i thought that is imperative to get right, in 2005, but i guess now its assumed fixed all is ok...thus top defending 2005, its shizen.....its the best, but that just throws the tommerhawk onto our local sports games.....NONE OF THEM ARE ANY GOOD AT ALL.....and any excuses for it, is just lame as, coz ENGLAND created half of them, but we got CANADIANS making the video games, and KIWI's on NZDollars, which is like PESO's to POUNDS (no offense to my neighbours
<
)

JLR will still rule the roost after 2006, or until next gen it seems

Now back to KILLZONE, and let off some steam
<
<
<
<

wow! what's up with you bro!?

the following is confirmed, yet you muse on it like you missed it or something bro!!?
<
+

1. sidesteps, fends etc are effective and do work

2. animation hindrance is gone

3. can play lions.....
<
So becos you wanted it in the last game and that annoyed you when you couldn't, you are annoyed now by its inclusion now too!!?? what a cob on!!....think about how stupid that is for JUST a moment or two okay? 1......2.......cool.
<

4. Yes better graphics are standard - so what ya big grump...they are here and in wcr2 too....I am just stating the improvemnts FGS!

5. high tackle (gd to see you manage some logical concession here)

6. quivck line-out - will be awesome....'it was in JLR too'!!!!??????huh? so friggin' what? isn't that your fav game as you say....wouldn't you want it then? YES you would, stop being so unholyily argumentative without reason!!!.....Does WCR2 have quick lineouts is the point you conveniently miss.....well? exactly. another thing it has over wcr2.

7. pop balls....yes you can't choose left or right, but at least they actually can go to hand more than 1 out of 4 times lol!!!!! and they are there as you wanted....so enjoy its fruits.

8. super 14 with all likenesses and licenses....aren't you australian? I mean FFS how can you blind yourself to this obviously FAR SUPERIOR set-up for rugby 06 over RC2006 in terms of this and its relevance to you as a SHer......again, what's got into your logic pattern here AK? It just doesn't feel like your thinking, I don't get it and am a little lost with where your head's at bro!

9. star players ARE confirmed...have seen screenshots and great testimony on their effectiveness etc etc....you will just have to accept this. do a search or something, you'll see what I mean. shesh. There is two-thre in EVERY team...(well certainly in the big ten or so)....okay? OKAY?!? good.

10. your only complaint that really warrants any examination is the auto-breakdown, yet the RC2006 one is apparently highly annoying as are many other things.

weighed up the two games are not an even keel.....that's just how it stacks up....

look at the poll on them.

okay?

<

**edit - oh and FFS! I know what I am talking about ak on rucks etc...I am not talking ******** like Mario was. Mario and I are like chalk and cheese...plse do not insult me like that again, to try and create atruth to yout argument that does not exist.**

mario was talking **** I am not. thanks.

so you missed out on playing rugby 05 properly.....no matter the sequel is almost with us.

thank god....it will end this pompous RC2006 talk I'll betcha.

PS - I didn't even mention updated rosters and tactical kicking in my list....it comprises 66.66% of your original comment on updates to the game...that syas a lot.

Shall I go on?: multiple subs, deeper franchise etc etc etc etc etc............
<
<

I'd have to agree partly with Los... I'm really looking forward to Rugby 06 (what happened to the "20" at the start? All of a sudden the EA Sports range get 20 bucks cheaper, and they lose two of their numbers at the start...Coincidence? Price cuts? Trying to look cool?) simply because all of the cool things that were in Rugby 2005 look to have been fixed so that they're not frustrating, and all of the cool stuff they've added...

..However, I doubt this game will be a maistayer for because the AI is still the same it seems. HB needs to revamp the AI in this game for 07, then I will be satisfied.

Sorry, skipped L.L.s posts so this might seem like a random post but it seems to be on topic to me.

That latest video shows some cool stuff. Nice tries being scored. Highlights packages! Which although I'm sure I've heard about before, it was nice to see it definitely is actually there. Hopefully PS2 version will have it.

Nice to see the World League has a little story to start you off aswell.

Cheers for that JJ.

Still haven't seen it yet. Both of my browsers won't show it for some reason...

Well said Los. I was confused as to why he was getting angry at the game aswell, haha.

I don't see how a game can make someone actually get angry.

oh and becos you are too lazy to edit rugby 06 kaftka, or so it seems, I am offering to transfer my memory card edit - once done - to a memory card you send me. I have planty and will not keep it or anything stupid. as long as you don't reveal where I live or send a hit squad to kill me, I will be happy to do this. I want someone else to be enlightened, so that I don't have to cop unfair flak about this all the time. I know what I am talking about and I want someone else to....

e.g in world league the other day, freshoosi, for his club side, ran past 4 tacklers and, are you ready, stepped out of FOUR tackles (JLR style)...that is intense. Can anyone else name the last time they were fended off, side stepped, bumped off consecutively and run around by a winger to the tune of 8 misses?

I will do this for you kaftka - it is an honest offer.

I'm only going to Hamilton. They've got the internet there now, in fact they tell me they're responsible for bringing the internet to NZ. Chances are I'll still probably be on here every couple of days or so, I just don't want to waste my time and useage cleaning up after TuRFers! Sorry. Not waste. "Spend". Or something something.
