Here we go:
  • France missed the most tackles in week one at 14 followed by England at 12. Ireland missed the least at 5.
  • Scotland made the more metres with ball in hand at 406 meters. More than England who came second with 398m.
  • France managed 14 offloads against Scotland, one more than Ireland against Italy.
  • Ireland made an eye watering 42 kicks in play. The most in week one. France & Scotland made the least at 21 kicks.
  • Italy managed somehow to beat Wales in losing most lineout ball, losing eight of their own throws last weekend.
  • Scotland made 113 carries last weekend, more than any other nation. Sean Lamont led the way with 15 carries, beating 5 defenders and making 101 meters.
  • Scotland also beat 14 defenders last weekend, more than any other nation.
  • Final fact, Scotland conceeded only five penalties last weekend, making them the most disciplined side of the weekend.

Ireland had the most offloads in the tackle while Italy couldn't manage a single one during the game, not sure if that's a credit to our defence or lack of ambition from the Italians. Scotland actually had more offloads than the French.

Again a bit of a misleading stat, the Italians may have lost 7 lineouts as opposed to 5 for the Welsh, but it was 7/19 for Italy while 5/12 for Wales, the Welsh was the worst lineout of the weekend.

From those stats, how the hell did Scotland lose??
Apparently only one reason:

Not really misleading.
If those were, in fact, the stats then Italy have a 36% success rate and Wales have a 41% success rate.
