Full contact: thoughts?

Jusy watched the first episode. It was ok and for less rugby nerds i thought it might be an interesting watch. I actually thought Russell came across pretty well and likable.

I'm far less annoyed by the jokey comment, it's the constant training half hearted with his hands in his pockets, his forthright attitude to training lazily and his incredible attitude to his spat with Townsend that made him look bad lol

"Man who says thing to TV camera surprised when thing he said to TV camera gets put on TV and morons take it literally"

Man makes light-hearted joke, which gets deliberately twisted out of context.
Man makes light-hearted joke about his last was deliberately twisted out context.
Gets that joke deliberately twisted out of context.

Ever wonder who the butt of the joke is? 'cos it's not Finn or Lionel

Finn, comfortable with media shows a personality and get griefs. Farrell not comfortable with media, hides personality gets grief.

No wonder these guys can't win and just close shop.

Finn, top player who's skills can back up his attitude.

Farrell, won't talk to the press but can't shut his gob with a referee, skills don't match is attitude.

This is supposed to be satirical but maybe with a hint of truth.

They're NH fly halves. Of course they can't win…..

Two season run only. The season about the 24 6N due to come out shortly will be the last.

The only one of these I've watched is the Tour de France one. Really enjoyed it, but for me, grand tour cycling is built for inherent drama anyway. The crashes, the ridiculous climbs, the ridiculous crowds on the climbs, the scenery, the tactics, the domestiques sacrificing themselves, the got to get up and do it all again tomorrow when you're broken, the very different types of stage - sprints, climbs, time trials etc….and to take part you've got to be just a little bit screwy by definition.

Ah these sports docs are dying across the board. Tennis, which should be far more compelling naturally than rugby as a 1v1 duel with both sexes competing at a comparable standard, had their show cancelled. I could see the golf one being on its last legs but the LIV v PGA war as well as how successful the episode of Rory bottling the US Open will be could keep it going.

The format has a shelf life because they present the sport at such a remedial level. Whatever new fans it attracts quickly outgrow it by following, and potentially taking up the sport, and it doesn't pick viewers up elsewhere.

I think F1 has lasted a bit longer as it's a difficult sport to enjoy beyond a casual level. No one is ever going to drive anything remotely close to what they drive and very few will experience the glamorous lives they do.
