France has announced their 36-man squad for the 2025 Six Nations, with head coach Fabien Galthié retaining a mix of experienced leaders and promising young talent. Antoine Dupont, who remains pivotal to Les Bleus, is joined by returning stalwarts such as Grégory Alldritt and Julien Marchand.

In the forwards, Toulon lock Emmanuel Meafou makes his tournament debut, adding physicality to the pack, while young prospects like Marko Gazzotti and Joshua Brennan also feature. Cyril Baille, Uini Atonio, and François Cros bring stability to the front and back rows.

Among the backs, Théo Attissogbe and Gaël Dréan earn their first Six Nations call-ups, providing exciting options on the wings. Romain Ntamack and Matthieu Jalibert continue to headline the playmaker roles, while Damian Penaud and Gabin Villière add proven firepower in the wide channels.

The squad reflects Galthié's ongoing commitment to building depth ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup, with key absences due to injury, including Charles Ollivon and Arthur Vincent.

France will kick off their campaign at home against Italy on February 2, seeking to reclaim the ***le they last won in 2022. "We've assembled a squad capable of playing fast, dynamic rugby," said Galthié.

Forwards: Esteban Abadie, Dorian Aldegheri, Grégory Alldritt, Uini Atonio, Hugo Auradou, Cyril Baille, Giorgi Beria, Paul Boudehent, Joshua Brennan, Georges-Henri Colombe, François Cros, Thibaud Flament, Marko Gazzotti, Jean-Baptiste Gros, Mathias Halagahu, Oscar Jegou, Anthony Jelonch, Maxime Lamothe, Julien Marchand, Peato Mauvaka, Emmanuel Meafou, Dany Priso, Rabah Slimani, Romain Taofifenua.

Backs: Théo Attissogbe, Pierre-Louis Barassi, Léo Barré, Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Nicolas Depoortère, Gaël Dréan, Antoine Dupont, Antoine Frisch, Émilien Gailleton, Matthieu Jalibert, Nolann Le Garrec, Maxime Lucu, Yoram Moefana, Noah Nene, Romain Ntamack, Damian Penaud, Thomas Ramos, Gabin Villière.

Includes the 2 players arrested in Argentina. Guardian saying charges were dismissed in December, a decision that is under appeal. I'd missed that.

One to watch although he may not feature in this 6N is Théo Attissogbe. I'd have him on the bench.
Jelonch is injured.

The injury list is mounting. Players are getting injured in training camp now, the clubs are going to love it. So after Jelonch, Taofefinua, Flament, now Penaud is out. They have to recall Roumat who is only just back from injury and has played 30 min with his club! But hey we beat the ABs last November by 1 pt so its all good!!

I don't know why, but the closer it gets to the Six Nations, I'm starting to think France could totally implode. I think Galthie is becoming a hindrance to that side. Whilst they will beat a poor Welsh team on Friday, I think that 3 game away run in the middle could be interesting, especially if Twickenham goes wrong. England, Italy and Ireland is a very tough run of away games. The days of Rome being a 50 point gimme are gone and France have had their troubles there before, two years ago they probably should have lost. Ireland in Dublin speaks for itself too.

The hype around the side is getting hilarious though…yes i think Galthié is part of the problem not the solution. If he can't win a 2nd championship with the talent pool at his disposal, he needs to go. Simple.

Ah I still think France will win, I have no fear that they'll implode with Dupont as a leader, any team he plays for seem ready to die for him and it's easy to see why. Penaud is a massive loss, as is Flament but they'll still be the most free scoring side in the competition and probably with a comfy margin. Their problems just aren't as big as anyone else's:

Ireland - Currently developing an attacking structure with a team that's aging in parts, a power struggle at 10 and down a head coach. It was this time in the last RWC cycle that things began to click but that was with Furlong, Conan, Henshaw and Aki all still in their primes and most crucially, having Sexton as an onfield coach. I expect it to take longer this time. I think our best chance of winning is try to play like prime Gatland Wales v at least France if not England too and try to develop the attack a bit against the softer packs and / or defences in the comp.

England - The squad has potential to win the championship but Borthwick hasn't shown the ability to unlock what is needed fron the players. One meaningful win last year aside, they just haven't been able to get past focused and competent sides. Even with improvements, a 4 win 6n with a strong number of BPs and good points difference seems at least one step too far.

Scotland - Injuries piling and realistically, they're a couple steps behind in terms of talent from France in any case.

Italy - Potential to improve but they're not going to win.

Wales - I prefer not to speak

So yeah, if Ireland or England don't show up with some improvements on the latter half of next year it's hard to look past a French side that looked a top 2 side in the world in November.
