Mercedes have taken a barrister into the meeting. Shows how they see this going.
Bought him for the weekend was probably more to cover Verstappen going into Hamilton or the opposite which is what most people thought going in.

Nobody predicted Massi would make a complete farce of a restart at the end with Hamilton clearly winning before hand.

Pics of Horner leaving don't look good for RB, even if it just means they're not throwing it out immediately
BBC reporter said he came out and winked at her then gave a small smile so not sure how much we can read into any of it. The had an 8 minute break before resuming. I imagine the FIA are desperately scrabbling for a solution that saves them some face. I don't see one though, they've well and truly snookered themselves.

True. However, I still imagine they expect to have to take this beyond the FIA.

Rosberg talks an awful amount of sense been quite a good pundit.

So I think Mercedes protesting max overtaking under sc is genius. Give the stewards to overrule masi's bullshit with their own bullshit jury nullification style.
True, on the other hand I'd argue this is different to a ref making a split second decision. The FIA had plenty of time to decide and knew the rules. The situation isn't exactly the same.
this situation is getting very philosophical innit

Red Bull now playing war of words here to race against lawyers. (They'd be doing the same thing). In public eye means they know Mercedes has a case and it's not going to be decided quickly.

Yeah it will be a BS call if they give it that way but will be their way of saving face and blaming Max.

Honestly I was surprised Max was harassing Hamilton that much considering
how muxh he just needed to keep it clean under the SC as he'd be looked on disfavoruably if there was a coming together or he did accidentally properly overtake.

But this being overtaking will be BS.

Thing is whoever wins now it will be controversial. Hell they can't even void the result as Max would win on wins, but they also ****** up in Brazil and you could argue they gave it to Max there. FIA have caused most of these problems with their inconsistent application of the rules and they only have themselves to blame.

Just seen another fair argument by only letting some of the cars through Sainz couldn't attack Verstappen. Its unlikely he would of but its just another part to the shitshow.

I'm trying to think of a worse way to end it from the race directors POV.

Theoretically could they not simply void the final lap? Don't think they will or even know if it's possible but given they have already shown they are happy to **** over their own rulebook, may as well continue to do so. Whatever you think about the balance of results this year, Hamilton was clearly faster in the final race. The likely result looked like Hamilton winning and it is active interference from Massi making up the rules on the spot that overturned that status quo.

Also everyone forgetting where he simply handed Verstappen the win in Spa rather than calling off the race.

Good point. They only let two people race instead of everyone.

That also seriously undermines the FIA as it lends more weight to the fact that they only did it to give Max a shot and it was unfair on Hamilton. It's completely different knowing you have someone behind you who could attack, compared with being able to attack with no one behind you.

The problem with that one is how do you resolve it fairly? Don't think you can.
