Exeter Chiefs thread

Oooooof if hephers ego is what lost you simmonds and is leading to slade at 10... Baxter might be loyal to him for the years of service but wonder if he goes full reset to save his own job.

Paul Brown-Bampoe has alot of power, speed and strong hand off, some real raw talent.

But seems to have average reading of the game to get into positions and seems to have zero ability in the air.

I want him to get more gametime to develop and hope he does

Saw a clip of his try and his running style is wild haha,
Obviously it's very effective but it reminds me of Phoebe in friends

Chiefs have fallen so far. The days of European champions and perennial Prem finalists feel a very long time ago.

Baxter's a good egg, but if he isn't under serious pressure, he should be. The team and culture he built have gone and all he has is Exeter experience to draw on. His honesty is laudable, but everyone has a shelf life and its hard not to think a fresh pair eyes is needed.

I'm not calling for Baxter, I'm more calling for Hepher as every time Baxter has taken a step away to a more DOR role we've looked weaker.

No we have a less experienced team and I'm not sure the coaching team in it's current for form is up to it.

We did a full pre season of rush defence and changed it/fired the coach mid season so our lack of experience will show through yet our attack looks weak and lost sometimes and that's Hepher with a full pre season.

Baxter is not beyond going but I think there is people ahead of him.

The main thing really is, does he have a plan, are the board (or whoever they are) bought into the plan and then is he on track with the plan.

Exeter have a really young team, if this is a 6 year plan to avoid buying a load of experienced and expensive players and everyone is on board then there is no real issue right now.

But you'd have thought they'd need to buy a bit more experience in the key positions to aid in the development of others.

Definitely this. I guess the buck stops with Baxter but he is so intrinsically linked to Chiefs' history that I think he at least deserves the opportunity for a rebuild.

The buck does stop with Baxter and if all at Chiefs have bought into that Corinthian spirit then fine, but modern sport tends to be a lot more brutal, requiring results in the here and now.

20/1 2nd

21/2 7th out of 13

22/3 7th out of 11

23/4 7th out of 10

24/5 Currently 9th and looking unlikely to go higher.

The graph is downward over a few years.

And even if the likely departure of the whole team was anticipated, which I gather it was, why would you allow any team (or business line) to totally fall off a cliff?

As I've said repeatedly on here Baxter's super strength but Achilles heel is that all he knows is Chiefs and we're now in a very different world to the one he played in and then built his successful team in.

I suspect there may be some tough conversations ahead. But if this is to be the end of Baxter's road, I'm sure it will be handled with dignity - he does deserve that.

Why you blokes paying overs for a middling Aussie 5/6? Where do you even get the money for it? I looked up your attendance and TV stats and they don't seem to justify paying overs for middling foreign talent.

Roughly double his salary lol.
