Sidhe have drawn some sand on the line.
Sidhe's are in game shots, they've announced that they were taken with the in game. As for AI Have you seen HB's AI? they're all chasing the one guy.
Fair enough, what reasons? I do beleive those images are from the developmental stage by the way, but I can't think why they would release such images without stating they are development stage.
HB have had a very solid base of previous rugby union games to build on. They're good at making rugby games. If they weren't we wouldn't still be playing their ***les from 4/5 years ago. Sidhe do not have the same experience in developing rugby union games. HB have a proven track record of fun, fluid rugby union games, which Sidhe simply don't have as this is their first rugby union game.
I agree that Sidhe's ***le is looking fantastic, but it is difficult to compare the games at this stage, even graphically as we don't really have similar shots from each game.
If you play Fifa with the broadcast angle it really doesn't look too different to RWC. It's only in the little cutscenes, replays etc. that you think 'wow this looks pretty awesome.'
It's early days yet, too early to be taking sides, though the 'fanboyism' is kind of amusing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an HB fanboy, as I'll be getting both games regardless, but I would be slow to dismiss HB (as many seem to have done), as they have provided me with rugby games which I have had many hours of fun playing and I expect RWC to be no different in that regard.
When HB came here looking for input during the early stages of development they let us know that given their budget, they would have to get their priorities right for this game and asked us what we wanted. Overwhelmingly, people opted for gameplay and this is what HB seem to be promising. So far they've done nothing which would suggest that they've broken this promise. Phew.
Were you playing the same Rugby games as everyone else? all their games were so easy they became boring quickly and the only reason everyone played them was the only other option was from 2006 and that was Rugby Challenge which was far too arcade like.
They weren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but they were fun. When you start putting cricket scores on the ABs with Portugal there is something wrong I will agree.
Of course it is subjective and this is my opinion, but I thought HB's rugby games were fun, for both rugby and non-rugby fans alike. I get bored of many games that I buy, usually not finishing them, but for me Hb's rugby games didnt fall into that category and I got good value out of them.
I will agree that I definatly got a good amount of fun out of them, however when you have to make players tackling stats absoloutly terrible to make the game enjoyable something is wrong.
That is true. Rugby 08 had a lot wrong with it, but also had a lot right with it imo, which offers a decent foundation to work on and build upon.
They'll have to rebuild all that from scratch though because I assume EA took the rights to the engine and all that, Everyone thinks this will be like Fifa but without EA's backing it won't be end of story.
That's an interesting thought regarding EA. I don't know much about the ins and outs of games develoment, but would they have had to do it from scratch regardless, for the current generation of consoles? Neither of the rugby games could possibly be like Fifa sadly.
If ea took back their engine from rugby 08 then....IMO rwc11 will be something along the lines of rugby 2005, anyone remember that? : (
Sidhe have drawn some sand on the line.
I remember it had Giteau on the cover.
Love how people have written this off on two screenshots before HB have revealed their hand during E3. HB would have been nuts a day or so before E3 to show their full hand. Something will come out at E3, and I don't think it will be those two screenshots.
Oh and before anybody tells me I am a HB fanboy, just like to point out that I do like what SIDHE have put out there. All good.
